I want to dedicate a shrine to Zenos.
I dunno, Zenos was pretty screwed up in the head. I can't call a man who subjugates entire nations under Garlean rule, and kills [his own soldiers and innocent people] for fun, a friend. The relationship between the WoL and Zenos reminded me of the relationship between Batman and The Joker.
EDIT: If Zenos would have survived, it would've just kept going on and on and on, like Batman and The Joker. Put Zenos away, he'll always get out and come after you, not caring who he kills in the process.
Edit-Edit: Don't get me wrong, I appreciate Zenos as a villain, wholeheartedly. In a way, he's just like us. We go out and kill for pleasure, just like him. Someone tells us to kill something, we're all too delighted to do it, be they man or beast. It's actually kind of scary to think about.

Three Ilm Knights, One Thousand Malm Road
I'd rather a yandere partner in crime. I recently re-ran some older content and thought of how I'm killing these people over and over and over. When a FATE with human mobs spawn, I highly doubt they're shrugging off a DRK sword through the face. We're doing the same things, just not as pushy about it.
I think if Zenos survived, he'd be absolutely taken with your contained murder ethics and would make the ultimate party member.
Pls Yoshi Squadrons when.
@Kikoten: Well my character does not kill for pleasure. Also interesting to note: In the German version of the second primal we can never say that we would have killed their god anyway. It was more along the line that at worst they still have to kill it. The intent behind the words were less harsh. So it seems that the English version kinda gives more options that make it sound like we are like him but at the end every WoL is different.
@Clethoria: Ingame you do but ingame =/ lore. We do each dungeon once, we dont go around and kill thousands of people again and again. Also we do have dungeons were we go against friendly people to spar (like Moogles and dragons) but I am quite sure that they dont die. We still do kill a lot of people and cause pain for those related to them but I am not really sure that we killed that many truly innocent. (Other then the forced Garlean soldiers but its sadly war V_V)
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
The DRK 60-70 job quests deal with that moral dilemma.
It is revealed that, yes, many of the people that the Warrior of Light cuts down are innocents and good people who are merely trying to do the right thing from their own perspective. They have lovers, friends and relatives. Some of whom are cut down as well - and in many cases, particularly in regards to side quests, the Warrior of Light only gets one side of the story and kills people for gil and loot. They may be sent to put down a thief, but who is to say that thief is a bad person and aren't simply resorting to theft due to circumstances beyond their control such as a desire to feed their starving families? Thancred and Arenvald are former thieves but they are never held accountable or judged in the same manner.
Zenos was easily one of the worst leaders the empire has ever had. He was a psychopath who pretty much put the entire empire at risk with his selfish actions. All for the sake of fullfilling his own desire. He couldve crushed the Ala Mhigan resistance, Doman liberation army and the Eorzian Alliance with ease but deliberately decided not to. Just to try and create an opponent who hates him enough that he'd feel somekind of satisfaction in killing them. Like a child bullying a cat to the point it bites back.
His father clearly doesnt care for him as he seemed aware of his sons condition, referring to him as a monster. But i'm more surprized he lacked the foresight of his son being a huge liability and even entrusting him with the position of legatus at all.
That said, he is still pretty interesting. But to me its more interesting like watching a bad president runing a country into the ground.

@Theodric: I did hear of the DRK job quests and plan to level my DRK to see them. I am kinda curious who is truly innocent since I cant remember someone being that but if they show it in that quest then I will looking forward to seeing it. Still I would say that most killed people are not truly good. But yes sadly there will always be someone that is just doing something to survive or forced into this and if we had a true choice I would try to solve conflicts without all the killing but sadly we dont have much choice.
Anyway I still see a difference between us and Zenos but I can believe that the WoL could have become someone like that if they had the wrong influence. (Or maybe some WoLs are like that and are just playing along)

Great villain. Yes the real question is why isn't he a Lala. Then again there is this thing as making a villain just too greedy and evil all together, we got enough of those irl.![]()
Has anyone noticed how different Zenos sounds in each language in the Ala Mhigo dungeon (I haven't compared his other lines)?
English Zenos sounds like a rabid monster, French Zenos sounds like a maniacal clown, Japanese Zenos sounds like... uhm... all bosses sound frustrated and angry to me in Japanese. German Zenos, on the other hand is a sad, lost, almost gentle soul that makes you pity him so much more. One of his calls is "Don't give up, friends!" while the part where he laughs ends with a painful grunt, leaving room for interpretation whether his pain comes from the wounds we gave him, his augmentations or both.
Well as a German I am not sure if he sounds sad. He does call out the "dont give up friends" but goes back to singular in the next sentence but most of the time he is like "happy" to end it. Kinda like the slash of his sword will end it. (Sorry dont know the correct sentence anymore) But yes he makes some painful grunts but not sure why. I always thought that he just is in pain because we are kinda beating him up but not 100% sure about that. But its interesting how different they sound. (And a bit annoying too)
