Or the networks that those MMOs use along with other companies/groups.Thing is, they have been open and honest to us before in regards to when their servers were having issues, why lie now? Also to note that other major MMO's like Guild Wars 2 has been dealing with the same issue lately from what I have been told. I don't think they are targeting FFXIV in particular, but whatever is considered a major MMO title.
So basically, SE is lying because you said so?
Anyways, it's the middle of the week and the middle of the day. These aren't peak hours for NA, so no - the servers aren't being overwhelmed. That said, this is also a pretty dumb time to attack said servers.
The ones attacking aren't very bright to begin with, so when they do it hardly matters to them, it even costs money for them to sit there and annoy companies and other players by doing that, so they can't keep it up forever, i still fail to see what the point of this even is.
I didn't say they lied. I said it doesn't feel like a DDOS attack. They didn't lie but I also don't believe them. Not much else to say.

I don't understand this sentence. If you don't think they are lying how can you not you believe them? By definition, if you think someone is telling the truth... And if you think they aren't, that means it's a lie.
That sentence made no sense.
The second sentence is true. The first sentence is false.
I wish I could think something is a lie based on me not believing them. Sadly it doesn't work that way.
I have little reason to trust devs especially with all the wonderful class balance issues being discussed back and forth. But if classes are working as intended please tell me!
Because they're absolute little creeps. There's no reason for it, they just want to act out and feel powerful. A loser is a loser.

I fail to see the relation between class balance issues at the start of an expansion which is incredibly common and randomly lying about a DDoS attack.
I don't even know how one can say that "this doesn't feel like a DDoS attack" as last night felt exactly like a DDoS attack to me.
Last night I was running instances with no hiccups whatsoever, in fact, I haven't had much of an issue at all save for a few minor things since early access almost a month ago. Cleared V2 without issue, went into V3 and suddenly all 8 members of my party are pokeballing and rubber banding.
Then there's the one going on this morning. Which I fail to see the logic that it's anything but a DDoS. Despite the issues, the world servers were kept running during early access and after release and content outside of Raubahn and some instances felt fine. I experienced little to no problems once I got through Raubahn save for getting booted Sunday night after early access but that only happened once and coincided with a declared attack... yet I'm to believe that those same servers are flailing and dying at the sudden rush of traffic that apparently occurred during midday on a Wednesday? I seriously doubt that.
a DDOS is a criminal attack. They can't lie to consumers about that. Wouldn't there be fines?Thing is, they have been open and honest to us before in regards to when their servers were having issues, why lie now? Also to note that other major MMO's like Guild Wars 2 has been dealing with the same issue lately from what I have been told. I don't think they are targeting FFXIV in particular, but whatever is considered a major MMO title.
