And only so many cars can run on the road. #1 reason of people saying "sorry im lagging"? They watch netflix on slow connections while gaming. Not the servers fault.

Then fix the networking.

Reasonable to do, once everyone is on 10Gbit connections. until then tho, I dunno. Server networking is usually 10Gbit, up to 120Gbit or more, depending on how much bandwidth each server needs (physically, logic servers that xiv use are different) if the servers are running 10 or 20 Gbit networks, then its the outside network that is the bottleneck, not the internal server network. if even 100mbit internet connections are rare, with i believe the US national average being like. 5-10mbit.

I get the feeling you havn't even been in a zone that can't handle the amount of players in it. Did you even play in early access?

The "roads" in this case would be your bandwidth, which is between you and your ISP and has nothing to do with SE or FFXIV.

What exactly does this have to do with the OP? Yes, it is entirely abnormal but lets face it, its not like they couldn't have foreseen this. Especially with Odin. Wait until it dies down means the fate is dead. How is that a solution??

You said the problem is that Ixion makes the Lochs inaccessible, which is of course due to the sheer number of people in the zone killing it. The relevance of my response is plain, which is that a bit of patience will render this a nonissue. You can make the rather ridiculous claim that the fate will be "dead" once it dies down, but as literally every similar fate still sees sufficient activity to clear it regularly, there's no real precedent to support your claim and thus no reason to take your claim as anything other than hyperbolic whining.

I was in quarrymill on balmung for early access. So suffice it to say, it was packed. I had no issues.

lol...it wasnt packed like Ixion is when it pops. People "standing" doing nothing other than zoning into potd is nowhere near doing a large scale fate. You can put your shield down now.

I've also had no issues with S ranks or heavily congested zones. I also never once DC'd during Odin spawns at 2.0 launch on Balmung. But I guess that doesn't count either.
