    The Server situation is unaccettable

Ixion just spawned on Ragnarok. The Lochs was completely locked down for people who wasn't already inside. People already inside started DCing like hell and lost rewards. The thing that's really frustrating is the fact we are treated like we are not paying for a service. The lack of clear communication and the recent message about "everything being alright" is the final joke in my opinion. If I have a problem with my phone or internet provider, things like that not only are unlikely to happen, but get sorted out quicker than they are in this relatively small community (and this says it all).

People DC'ing is less likely a server problem, and more likely their own PC's. I had friends who used to have that issue every time they went to Idyllshire, or during the S ranks/Odin. They recently got new machines, and no longer have that problem.

Also, it becomes not a server problem, but a networking one, when the amount of people reaches a certain point. You can only transmit and receive so much data, and if you have to transmit that data to every player that is currently in said instance, it gets multiple time higher.

We need to stop making excuses for how poor XIV's servers are. We pay $15 a month to not have these issues.

Again, its not a server problem. Everyone loves to blame the servers, because it can't possibly be anything else, right?!

again, it is the servers. The servers are what handle the instance, the servers are what sends/receives the data...not the network

Look at it like a car on the freeway... The car is the servers, the network is the freeway. A car can only fit so many people...

And only so many cars can run on the road. #1 reason of people saying "sorry im lagging"? They watch netflix on slow connections while gaming. Not the servers fault.

Reasonable to do, once everyone is on 10Gbit connections. until then tho, I dunno. Server networking is usually 10Gbit, up to 120Gbit or more, depending on how much bandwidth each server needs (physically, logic servers that xiv use are different) if the servers are running 10 or 20 Gbit networks, then its the outside network that is the bottleneck, not the internal server network. if even 100mbit internet connections are rare, with i believe the US national average being like. 5-10mbit.

Now for a given client they have to keep up to date with 299 other people all casting abilities and generating visual lag with their flashy effects. Network lag from a poor connection combined with CPU and GPU heavy loads from graphics settings increases the likelihood of the player's client failing to keep in step with the server. Leading to them disconnecting because as far as the server knows they are not there because they have not told the server they are there because the client still has not gotten its shit together.

So no, it is not just the server. Its every single piece of the experience working (or failing to work) in tandem.

So what do these two posts lead me to believe? One the hardware is ok (possible). Also maybe someone designed content that isn't compatible with the hardware, I am shocked, SHOCKED I say.

It is very clear from this forum that SE should not have to design around their limitations. Players should learn to suffer and keep paying.

I don't know why lodestone has so many apologists. The servers have been shaky since the release of ARR and perhaps never stood upright since then. It's Square Enix guys. Is this game so unlucrative that they have to budget their resources at the expense of their own player base?
