I must live in a magical data center then.
I remember 3.0 quite well and then and now I never saw any exclusion outside of repeat classes in parties.
Never had a convo where someone said "sorry bud, need a sch not whm" when they already had an ast.
2 Helios is 2880 mana. And it's still less potency then an empowered ES unless you pop Largeese.
Assize restores around 2k mana. It barely restores enough for a medica at 70.

I never claimed they had been buffed. That doesn't mean they're not powerful, nor that they should be ignored to pretend like AST's oGCD healing is somehow bad.ED has not been changed since Heavensward, other than to remove the passive that gave it a 40 second cooldown at level...28 or whatever it was. There was no buff made to ED. There was also no buff made to Collective Unconscious, which again, requires you to have people stand in it. Plus, with the change where CU will cancel just by turning your camera/character, it's been increasingly difficult to actually get it to stay up long enough to get the HoT applied.
And, hey, guess what. All healers have heals that require you to stand in them (Well, for SCH it's a buff...)

Actual 3.0 (not 3.4) saw quite a few AST exclusions and there was plenty here on the forums about it. Feel free to dive back to 2015 posts and check it out.

Agreed, AST was pretty much out for the count when it came to very early Gordias progression as it just wasn't good enough. A1S and A2S were rough but dooable, but the first few weeks of A3S was a complete brick wall for every AST I knew at that point.

I'll respond to more comments directly later today when I get home from work but I do have one question for ASTs since I don't have a 62 AST just yet - When you pop Earthly Star, does the recast for the ability commence when you place the Star? Or does it commence after you explode the star? This is important because if it occurs after you explode the start this essentially means Earthly Star is a 70-80s CD versus Assize's 60s CD. I would argue Earthly Star from a healing perspective is slightly better than Assize if the recast begins exactly at when it's placed, but would be either equal or slightly worse if it occurs after it's detonated (much like how Draw works currently).
Assize generates approximately 2K MP and would save the WHM from casting a Medica, thus saving a total of approximately 3,880MP, I think. If you needed to cast a second Medica to approximately match Earthly Dominance, you'd end up with a MP gain of approximately 2K since the second "medica" cast would cancel out the cost saved of the first Medica. One Earthly Domination results in in a savings of approximately 2,880MP (2x Helios). Take into account that Assize's benefit will continue to grow as ilvls get higher due to it scaling with Piety too.

It starts as soon as you place the star. It will also detonate at the end of the second cycle automatically, so you can time it such that you don't need to manually detonate. (Mildly interesting but useless sidenote: The detonation command has a CD of 5s)
If you let it expire natually, ES will resume its place on your hotbar with 39s left on the countdown (assuming good latency).

It starts as you place the star.
Actually, if you go by this, it's more like a 50-40 second CD heal.
