Also useless sidenote. CO will extend the duration of ES, making it take even long to power up(or letting it last a longer time when it is powered up).It starts as soon as you place the star. It will also detonate at the end of the second cycle automatically, so you can time it such that you don't need to manually detonate. (Mildly interesting but useless sidenote: The detonation command has a CD of 5s)
If you let it expire natually, ES will resume its place on your hotbar with 39s left on the countdown (assuming good latency).

That is fascinatingly amusing in such a useless way. lol.It starts as soon as you place the star. Not really a fair assessment because also it can be a 60-80s CD too if you pop Earthly Star immediately on your first application than delay the second one to charge up to Earthly Dominance and then let it expire naturally. Since the recast commences as soon as you drop it initially it's best to just label it as a 60s CD because there are a myriad of ways to use it to shift it from 40s till next use to 80s.
I asked my question in the first place because if recast didn't commence until detonation your ability to make use of it as frequently as possible will diminish. This is clearly not the case so let's not try to mislabel recasts to make the AST shine in a better light or the WHM kit to shine in a worse light as some people are want to do.
If AoE damage is going out in 80-90s intervals you might be able to use it in that way to start the Earthly Star recast sooner but get the effect at a more meaningful part of the fight. Of course you'd only be able to do that once every 2 minutes so it might not exactly be very practical but I like the concept and thought process of it immensely.

In the end it's pretty hard locked to the 60s CD. When you get it, you'll notice it start slightly before the detonation command comes up. Only thing that will actually let you use it again sooner is Spear. But that's a pretty interesting use case you thought of there. Next reset I'm going to see if I can find a place to do that, just for the fun of it xD

Next time you do Susano EX try it then. I think the Ukahi intervals match up nicely to that. We're running Susano tonight so I'll see if I can look at logs afterwards and see what the intervals actually are.In the end it's pretty hard locked to the 60s CD. I wonder how long the "HATE WHM" fad is going to keep going... it's almost as widespread as fidget spinners.

Not hating on WHM or trying to spread hate for WHM, whichever you meant.
Simply wanted to discuss a looming problem that they may be facing after SCH is back on it's feet.
Of course, no matter what happens, they'll still be viable. Just not raid relevant, which is my main concern.
