No pet wyvern please.
Maybe they should just add an aesthetic one that just hovers around and impose the idea that they're drawing the power from the pet. That way, they'd satisfy the players who want to remain strong, and the players who feel like drg needs a draconic companion lol. I don't think id be gunning for drg myself but if i did, i think i would prefer my own strength for a change of pace to xi.
This totally..Dragoon does not need a wyvern.
FFXI is the only game where Dragoon is a pet job. FFXIV dragoons -fight- dragons. They do not need a wyvern, it makes no sense in this game, please let them be powerful attackers instead of trying to balance a pet in with everything else and ruining the job. Please.
I'm all for pet classes, But really a DRG shouldn't be one of them..
Yes you can rewrite the game lore, but you can also not copy something from XI..
Some of these things where a comment like Lots of people do/don't...
I'd like to see SE step up and put a poll up linked to active accounts to back comments..
As a lot of the comments i read were against not for it in other posts (but then I don't read every post ever day).
edit:
Actually going to add i wanted a DRG in XI cos of the pet.. I just never played enough to get it.
It just wouldn't work without massive changes in XIV, and shouldn't imo.

No pet please. I'd rather keep me as the DD powerhouse and not have my abilities split off into a wyvern. It was fun in XI, but let's have something different this time!
I rather not be balanced around a gimmicky pet, not to mention it makes no sense from a lore perspective why a Dragoon of Ishgard is fighting alongside a wyvern.
If anything, they might want to add in dragon-like or "dragon spirit" into the weapon skill animationsMaybe they should just add an aesthetic one that just hovers around and impose the idea that they're drawing the power from the pet. That way, they'd satisfy the players who want to remain strong, and the players who feel like drg needs a draconic companion lol. I don't think id be gunning for drg myself but if i did, i think i would prefer my own strength for a change of pace to xi.
I would much rather have dragon abilities than have a dragon with the abilities. I feel a dragoon is supposed to be good at fighting dragons and so need to know dragon abilities to defeat them.
This has been the correct terms since Dragoon was introduce until it was butcher'ed in FFXI. LAWL xD
I always liked the more direct translation "Dragon Knight" better than Dragoon, for 竜騎士. It sounds a little awkward in English, but Dragoon carries implications of "light mounted cavalry" and clearly it just sounded cool to Ted Woolsey and the name stuck.
