No, it's not. A location name isn't a spoiler, for crying out loud. Talking about the stuff that happens in the cutscenes before and after said dungeon, on the other hand, would be spoiler territory.

I don't particularly care for people saying stuff like "need 1 dps in prog for the level 67 dungeon". What the hell is that? Just say the dungeon you mean so I know exactly what it is I'm queueing for.

with doma castle and ala mhigo are spoiler names. its not like there multiple lvl 67s dungeons lol. Not everyone has access to doma or ala mhigo so not everyone seen the maps.

So I had to deal with spoiler babies back when Heavensward came out. What do I mean by "spoiler babies"? Basically anyone who cries "SPOILER!" at the most minute things from new content, regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with the story. Best example was me teleporting to an FC house on a particular dragon mount (which I won't name just in case there happens to be any spoiler babies reading this) and one woman was yelling "OMG SPOILER!!", and it got to the point where I had to more or less isolate myself for a week until the FC leader broke it down for us in a list I've slightly revised for this expansion, starting off with what wouldn't be a spoiler.

What IS NOT a spoiler:

Any item attained from content including mounts, minions and gear as none of these things bear any context to how the story unfolds.
Any material either displayed or mentioned from cutscenes or websites published by Square-Enix including anything on the Stormblood features website or any teaser trailers. This would include character names, character details, region names, new job information or any scenes from teaser trailers that may or may not involve any sort of audio content. While these things may show story elements or even portions of the story, there is an intentional lack of information as to how said elements or scenes fit into the story and any such context surrounding them is also kept unknown to the players until content release.
Any details involving dungeons, trials or raids with the exception of any character names directly tied to the main story. Any elements unreleated to the story such as loot or fight mechanics are fair game.
Any content prior to the latest major patch, because let's face it: if you're THAT far behind, story is most likely the least of your concerns.
Any emotions displayed by other players going through the story as long as no details are added with them.

General rule is that if it's already been mentioned or displayed in previously published Square-Enix media outside of the game, then it is no longer deemed a spoiler because we already know it's coming.

What IS a spoiler:

Anything directly linked to events of the story. General rule for this is "don't put nouns with verbs".
Any story elements not given prior to content release. If it's in the story but never provided in either a teaser trailer or the Stormblood features website such as additional characters or locations, then do not speak of it.
Any other story-linked elements not listed in the first list that is directly involved with the story such as items used in the story or story-specific solo fights.
Any story content directly linked to prominent sidequests such as characters or fights in job quests.
Any "current" quest or story content, which is effectively any content from the current major patch (i.e. 4.0x).

If you feel that anything further should be considered a spoiler, then you should probably either go back to single-player RPGs or accept that not everyone wants to go at your pace.

I think dungeon names are visible on the map with the blue dungeon icon, even if you haven't explored the area. So I wouldn't really consider the names to be spoilers.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Ala Mhigo is on the map as a dungeon.

I once got flamed because i mentioned the existence of a recurring character in the story.

When HW launched and i was progressing through the story i casually remarked "Jeeze, Kan-E-Senna is more help to us than the other 2 leaders combined" and was told to zip it because i was spoiling the plot.

This is the one that rides the line I find.

On one hand it can be non-spoilery, on the other hand it can reveal the kind of events that are about to take place, based on how the person displays their emotions going through the story.

An "OMG what!?" or "Whoa that was intense" doesn't tell much.

But if people start mentioning being sad or tearful or things like that? That generally is a reaction that has a much more specific source. I was spoiled on the ultimate fate of a HW character back when it launched because someone in my guild said "[character name] nooooooo! T.T" (with T.T being a crying emote). No details, just a name and a reaction...but because it was that specific kind of emotion displayed, I knew what was coming though I didn't know the details. It was still an impactful scene, but one where I knew a certain character would be involved that wasn't present at the start of the scene.

While most of the rest I'd agree with (though personally, and in my FC, we tend to avoid spoilers for the big moments of earlier content when we know new players are still going through it, but that's a personal decision we made), the emotions one can easily jump into spoiler category.

As I recall, it only shows up after you've unlocked it - until that point it not a dungeon entrance on the map.

I got blacklisted for a couple days by one individual because another person said "Hey, have you heard the X theme?" referring to the final fight's boss by name (that we knew was in the game, but they didn't say it was a fight...they got b-listed too) and I said "No I haven't, I guess I'll hear it when I get to it" meaning I'd hear it when I got to the part where it played.

Was really the only time I've seen anyone in my FC take the low-to-no spoilers approach so far, b-listing anyone that so much as acknowledged that it had been posted.

I am pretty strict about spoilers personally. I don't name drop or even hint at what I am talking about, if I think there may be someone who has not hit that point in the story yet. I also filter out all chat modes aside from my FC until I have completed the story. I do this every story patch. I learned to do this because of having a certain NPC's fate spoiled for me in 2.0..

People that truly care about being completely spoiler free probably already do this, or at least to some extent. Apparently there was a /sh in the early days of EA while people were stuck behind Raubahn Ex where someone who managed to zerg through ended up spoiling a certain important cutscene.

My point here is that those who truly care about spoilers should really be filtering all of this stuff anyway, because there are some inconsiderate arsehats/trolls in the world.

Can't agree with these two points.
Some people appreciate "blind runs" when content is brand new. I for one don't like to be told about fight mechanics until either my first win or first wipe (depending on the content).
As for the 2nd point, new players exist. This game is very story driven, and some people actually care about it. You have to consider the audience.. If it's in an FC chat where everyone are vets then sure thing, name drop all you like.. However name dropping in a place like novice network, should be avoided pretty heavily.
