    You want to stop those who AFK and/or stay at base the entire time? Make it require 3 assists in order to earn any kind of rewards for the match. This is easy for anyone putting in work.

    If anything, this change has made it worse. Now AFKers will do their thing for an additional few matches to make up for the lost xp on losses, which is more matches that we have to endure being in with them.

    Yeah I don't even see why AFKers would even really care about the EXP nerf. They weren't putting in effort in the first place. They will still get EXP. It just means the have to keep FFXIV running in the background for longer.

    XP is a terrible tiered reward for pvp games, not very motivating.

    With this change I can guarantee you it will make the situation worse, if it doesn't flat out kills the pvp queues. eg you ll see the loosing teams going afk in order to speed up the end of the game and you can expect way more toxicity.

    That aside, I really do think MMORPG players are masochists who hate having fun. Because we actually had a system in place giving a decent amount of xp and that was fun and drama free, and people had to complain and ask for something toxic.

    I haven't done the exact math on this, but i thought it was something like 12 PvP matches per level?
    So 120 PvP matches per job 60-70 x 15 jobs = 1,800 PvP Matches divided by 4 per hour = 450 Hours of AFK.

    If going from 50-70 then that's 900 Hours.
    Truth is that even prior to any nerfing, you were unlikely to live long enough to see any AFK person actually finish AFKing.

    So from what i understand, 2nd and 3rd place only get 66% of what the 1st place team get. Was expecting 75% for 2nd and 50% 3rd place but this is okay as well. Maybe this will encourage those in 2nd place to go after the leaders rather than going after than those in 3rd place.

    No problem if the "oh hey, free chicken" people lose interest and stop queuing. Go do some FATEs in 4.0 areas, they have been pretty empty since launch.

    The only thing that's missing from PvP now is some form of map rotation. I'm so tired of only doing Shatter over and over and over. Seize and Secure never pops if you only queue for those two by themselves. At least on Chaos (EU) Data Center.

    Hrng. Looks like I won't be using frontlines to grind a battleclass up anymore. I actually had a spreadsheet at the start of Stormblood- it was only marginally better on average than Palace of the Dead. With only first place getting the EXP we had prior to this, I see no reason to gamble my time on 71 other people. 3 will do, especially if I know them.

    Two observations so far from today.
    #1 - We lost the match and i still got 50 Verity tomes in addition to 50 bonus, so are tomes unaffected by results?

    #2 - I went in and participated and got kicked. Then i went right back in and someone vote kicked the tank although he/she was in fact participating. I for one always vote no for various reasons, but it's just an observation. There is an issue with vote kick abuse in PvP when someone doesn't like another player... and i gotta say, sometimes that itself makes it feel like actually doing stuff is more likely to get you kicked than doing nothing, because doing stuff makes you visible, and if some better than thou elitist is in the group and decides you're doing something wrong then you're better off just not doing anything and getting the complete, than trying and getting kicked.

    only the character experience amounts changed...if they touched tomes non-rated PvP queues would be a virtual graveyard. Scaling tome rewards would be like punishing you for wipes in dungeons or not meeting speed running thresholds...that would be DF suicide. Tomes are static participation rewards and should stay that way.

    1. Frontline wasn't "drama free." (Unless you were ignoring chat?)
    2. If "having fun" means "free chicken dinner" to you, then maybe a "game" isn't for you? The very nature of a game is COMPETITION. And in a competition, there are TIERED rewards (winners get more than losers).

    Just curious: Are you carried through dungeons all the time? And do you complain when you are vote kicked for being carried? Because (after all) you were just "having fun"?

    Not trying to be mean. I'm honestly perplexed at your logic and trying to appeal to some common intuitions.
