I wont go nazi on your number but I will criticize the logic. In the real world I (will be) paying real money to get satisfaction from this game.

I know a lot of people say, "Well if you don't like it then don't play it", but that is not what Square is looking for on these forums, they are looking for suggestions for ways to improve the game play so that more people will find the experience enjoyable, and ultimately will pay them money to play. I share that goal because the more money they make, the more they will put into this game, and the more enjoyable it will be for me.

(And, btw if you ask a behavior analyst they will tell you that the lovely sounding scenario you refer to IS how the real world works and they get paid a lot of money to show companies how to harness it.)

the real world thing is getting a bit off topic anyway. but i think my point is crafting is boring, but to compensate for how boring it is. crafters are paid well in gil. if you make crafting fun then every1 will do it. then goods will lose there vlue and crafter will not be paid nearly as well

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

I'd rather be discussing new ideas at this point rather than eluding to the fact that you did not read the whole post but, The system I proposed would not be fully automated, the time and effort of making actual items would be greatly enhanced if that was all the Crafting system was required to focus on.

The assumption that the crafting system must function in the same way that the battle system does in terms of grinding is unnecessary. Maybe it could be included, but how can then resolve how boring the current system is?
No actually I did read it and from the sound of it pushing that is effort for you -- given that you would rather have the crafting system be done the EVE way (logon set skill to level and logoff, rinse repeat) tell me how that is effort and is rewarding since you actually didn't do a single thing to raise your skill.

But I enjoy gathering for 8 hours to craft for another 2-4 hours to gain 1-2 levels.

You are using the word "skill" in reference to a system to does not involve any skill at all (the current system in place). What I want is a system that DOES requires Skill. Where you log in and use 'skill' to craft an Item. Unfortunately I do not see how grinding AND maximized "skill" can exist in one system, so I suggest separating the two. There can be many different ways to do this, I came up with one. How would you do it?

so instead of people just saying no...how about some ideas.

    what we currently have:
Grind on same synth over and over with the turbo controller on enter.

    Ideas for an alternative way:
Leveling up offline like in OP
    leveling up through quests
leveling up through a "better" mini game
leveling up through______________. whats your idea

Why not do something similar to the battle classes?

You get party buffs at 4 people and 8 people, can also give a crafting buff (and a gather buff) too. And since recipes have levels, everyone in the party on a crafter class gets the xp when a person finishes, as long as they're within 10 levels of the highest crafter. This isn't much different than battle classes, you get xp for a kill, as long as you're on a dom/dow, even if you didn't even touch a mob. It's not that far of a stretch to give xp for a party of crafters, even if others didn't touch the synth or are different crafter classes. Can even make them chain, if each crafter finishes within the chain limit. I think that would make it more fun for a group of crafters, gives them the ability to party, converse with others, and it's not so mind-numbingly boring.
