    I have to agree on every single point here.

    The big problem for this is that the situation isn't "just 10 minutes". The fact that the measure is an entire server reset means no one can realistically queue for any instance anywhere around the reset period. For DPS, that is more a 1-2 hour block depending on what they are queuing for. And now it is happening every bloody day for the foreseeable future.

    The fact SE are doing this on servers without the problem in question is utter madness. More so when you consider all this nonsense could have been avoided if SE would properly code their AFK timeouts like literally every other MMO I can remember playing in the first place.

    On day 2 of the Great Implementation, you have:

    1) Not been online when the servers were shut down for 10 minutes. [I see all those AFK'ers nodding, sheepishly]

    2) In the middle of an important Story-Mode raid because I didn't notice the "shutdown in 60 minutes" announcements [I see a few of you raise your hands]

    3) Um, what shut down? [I sense a great disturbance in the Force, as if tens, if not hundreds of thousands of players said "huh?"]

    At the very least, they should find a way to not make it affect people in the middle of a duty (Quests, Dungeons, Trials or Raids or whatever)...

    Nothing quite like getting kicked out of the game while in the middle of something, and not being able to get back in due to the login queues.

    Housing instances are in the same server as DF. Kicking everyone from those also means kicking the people that are afking in a fc/personal home.

    The great boot seems to happen while I'm at work, so no effect at all. I get home several hours later, during the Tonberry peak time and I have a whopping 20 player queue that is immediately skipped by pressing cancel and then trying again, like it's always been.

    Yeah , on day two there was no queue to speak of (under 50) at all the times i logged on.
    It seems to be working fine on my server .

    I am drawing you "it is only 10 minutes"-ppl a worst case scenario:

    - A european player ends work at 6pm
    - comes home at 7pm
    - finishes dinner and playtime with the kids at 8pm.
    - Logs into the game (not congested world) at 8:15pm.
    - As a dps he knows that it is impossible to get into a roulette because of the forced kick that is going to happen at 9pm.
    - Servers are back up at 9:10pm, he ends up in a little queue and is back online at 9:20pm. Since he has to get up early in the morning for work, he has to log off at 10pm.
    - A dps would have to wait 30+ minutes to get into a dungeon his night is alreay over, he won't make it anywhere before he has to log off.

    So instead of "10 minutes only" this kick takes away 2 hours, which makes 100% of his playtime during the week, more than 50% of his total playtime.

    Before you do it: Don't you dare to come with "this is a datacenter for the americans only"... There has been no EU datacenter when 1.0 started. There has been no EU datacenter when ARR started. We simply had no choice back then and when they finally added a european datacenter we europeans already had history and friends on the servers where we created our characters.

    I am happy for the ppl that are going to benefit from this kick. For the working european community it's a huge slap into the face.

    And as we can see in that "reporting issues resulting from the north american data center relocation" thread SE simply stops responding. Leaving the ppl that are affected by this alone. Over a month later and SE still refuses to talk to us. So i'm sorry if we do not expect this simultaneous logout to be a temporary thing.

    The measure they've put into effect is like calling the police to clear out the entire building to get those 25 people out of your building so you can now serve 50 at a time instead of 25.
    You didn't even fully quote me.

    As I stated in my last paragraph, you can't simply solve congestion problems by forcing people out ONE SINGLE TIME because after you switch the servers back on you'll have a massive login in flood, which will cause congestion, and then you'll have players go back right back to afking since the once a day kick is over. The only way this forceful log out works is if people who afk are the only ones removed from the server, it does no good to remove people out who are actively playing the game. Any modern game has a auto kick feature, even Overwatch has one.

    This is a bandaid fix, a very bad one at that. People need to wake and a realize that. SE screwed up the entire server moving, by NOT expanding their server count, not creating more NA datacenters, and by not using NEWER servers the current company recently opened.

    None of the rest of your post was relevant to what I was saying.


    You were talking about a throughput queue.
    What this fix is attempting to alleviate is a max capacity queue.

    Your example was of a throughput queue, mine was of a max capacity queue.
