Two day turnaround for targeting the daily logout more precisely; that's pretty damn good, SE. I really was too harsh.

While I can see the datacenter shifts working, I also think creating new worlds might not be a good solution. In a few more weeks populations will stabilize as the hype dies down, and in a couple months there will be far less people logging in. It'll eventually return to the core players, hopefully a larger number than before expansion.

However, as the data I have put forward shows, EU has the worst congestion issues proportionally compared to the other servers. NA/JP have lots of uncongested servers. Consider the fact SE had to open 2 new EU realms, one of which is at the risk of becoming congested as shown here, and I think even after the hype does die down completely, EU will still have issues. I think a more long-term solution needs to be looked at, and a 2nd data centre opened.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

You might be right. I mean, two datacenters for one country, one datacenter for a continent?

Personally, I think they are doing this because they see the rift they've created in the community with most English-speaking players blaming Balmung and Balmung players gloating about it. Aside from Early Access, I haven't personally experienced very long login queues at any time during the day on Excalibur.

I kept seeing "Well this system is implemented so cry me a river." Nothing has been implemented, this isn't new. They can push server messages just like we can tells and all the log out thing is is the same thing they use to disconnect everyone for maintenance, this can be done globally (all data centers), at the data center level (like, just disconnecting Primal), at the server level, or even at zone level (like just disconnecting everyone in Kugane). I'm not exactly sure why it was global to begin with, seems like a plan that wasn't well thought out to me...

I'm glad they've acknowledge the folly of subjecting every world to an inconveniencing measure that only benefits a handful of worlds. Completely and utterly weird to me that it didn't occur to them on the first pass, but all's well that ends well.

I would guess that they thought of it but wanted a few days worth of data to confirm the assumption that it was occurring only on the heavily congested servers.

Maybe they are seeing fairly widespread success of their initiatives to get people to move (I know Coeurl actually shut down for new transfers for a while in the past few days) and thus needed to make sure that the problem of people avoiding the timeout wasn't already happening for "convenience" on the lower population servers. I'll admit that I'm just making presumptions but it seems just as likely as the idea that only shutting down Balmung/Gilgamesh didn't actually occur to them. Despite their faults and more than a few questionable decisions in content/balancing, they've kept the game up and running fairly well for the past 4 years.

I was on Ragnarok with 2000+ queues at peak hours, move to Omega with ~000 queues at peak hour, but that was before the logout measures.

I honestly can't say whether it was all that effective now that on Omega, because the queues were generally shorter than on Ragnarok anyway.

But isn't it a bit early to stop the measure ? I mean, won't people resume their shenanigans to stay connected ?

Congested worlds still will get the logouts.

@OP, please un-sub. I like being able to log in with a small queue, lots of love: Odin server

I'm glad they are changing it to only the affected servers. Again I'm not against the measure itself and I'm glad it's working on congested servers, but I was against it being implemented on all servers indiscriminately. Although Gilgamesh is still on the list for some reason, I'm happy for the other 51 servers that won't be interrupted for no reason.
