As such, we’ll be instituting a temporary measure that will log all characters out simultaneously across all Worlds on a data center once a day. Announcement for when this will take place will be made one hour prior via in-game system message. Please note that you will be logged out of the game even while inside of instances or duties.

Players will not be able to log back into the game for about 10 minutes while this is being processed.

On a side note, we ALL know it will be during NA primetime, with everyone trying to log back on, crashes and DC's. You know it's going to happen.

It really wasn't a big deal and seems to have largely resolved the issue. Having to go through it every day will be a minor annoyance, but if people are no longer regularly waiting in 3 hour or longer queues, then I'd say it was well worth it.

39 pages, and nobody has explained why this shouldn't just be Balmung only. This literally isn't a thing that mattered on any other server.

I mean, if this is good for Balmung players -- and sounds like it is -- then great!

But this is pointless on most other servers. This just means there will now be a random period when we're all booted for 10 minutes. That isn't a good thing! There is no reason for that to happen on normally populated servers.

It's probably to do with how the instance servers are set up...

They probably can't take down the housing stuff without taking down the whole thing, since the housing is likely seperate from the world server and shared between all servers.

Thus, all those people hiding in their houses need to be purged as well.

Except it already happened over 4 hours ago.

If Balmung's queue remains manageable tonight, and the AFKers see that they can get on easily if they all just log off the damn game, then this might only be a 1 time occurrence or for just a few days. I highly doubt this is a long term measure by SE.

Balmung at this time the other day was 4,000 people and 3 hours, right now its 1076 and...still waiting to get in. Seems to have helped a good bit =)

Was in queue for roughly an hour. I went from 1609 to actually into the server in that time. Usually around this time after work for me it's 3500+ in queue and never moving.

Inb4: wah wah Balmung thanks for nothing, since judging from the responses in 40+ pages, plenty of other servers are having the same issues on different Data Centers.

Yes, actually, and it should be automatic. x+100 (inconvenience fee) crysta discount on sub for each month this is happenening.

Also it's worth noting, as others have, that it's 100% pointless to subject normal/low population servers to such drastic measures along with the congested ones. Why they've gone with a blanket policy is beyond me. The only explanation that makes any sense is they're using the issue as an excuse to save money- Get rid of the AFK people everywhere to save on bandwidth and processing power.

And if SE is seriously making it so I cannot Q for anything 60m prior to the forced logout, well, that's 1hr and 20m that I cannot play the game as I wish. All so they can save a few bucks a day by kicking idlers out of my server when there's zero quality of life issues here? I would hope not.

As the people providing us with a service we are paying for we are entitled to compensation, regardless of how little. A "good" business would, so I really don't expect anything from SE.
