Resolving the Balmung Population Issue at Minimal Cost to the Benefit of All Players

I personally moved to the new EU server. I figured that at the end of the day, the servers are what we make them. I mean can't rp if I can't log in, so at least I can try and make an rp fc where I am now. Even if no one is interested, I can at least log in the game XD

Seriously, you can sit there stubbornly and get nowhere and not even enjoy what you love, OR you can take a chance to make a change and start anew elsewhere. Didn't someone say Mateus is being fashioned as yet another unofficial RP server?

The biggest problem about this Balmung to Goblin/Mateus is really because they still can't figure out how to move houses between servers (like make a reserved Wards then, Square Enix?) - or even they haven't figured out how to move FCs/Airships even.

While you guys are waiting in 3 hour ques ill be immediately logging on and running 3 hours worth of dungeons on levi. Any wait over an hour would not be worth it in my personal opinion, i dont care what i got going for me on that server. Honestly if you are on balm and complaining its 100% your fault. You choose to stay there whatever the reason which says that you are ok with the ques. Its a personal choice really.

I am currently in Goblin but I am just waiting for them to say something about housing situation before I fully decide on moving my alts, so that's another reason I am hesitating on moving all of my characters out.

We don't need an official server for role-play to happen. We also don't need a server purely created for role-play as that doesn't make for a healthy server community.

I agree with this. It makes me sad that people have so little faith that RPers exist outside of the server they arbitrarily advertised as the only source of FFXIV RP. I RP daily, my FC RPs daily, and random people in Party Finder set up taverns, cafes and events for RP with anyone who wants to join in. Many alts don't even get levelled that far, and there's no reason not to have alts on multiple servers. The only concern that I 100% agree with is the problem getting housing and transferring FC progress; hopefully the new district will solve the former on smaller servers but the latter needs a better fix at some point.

Furthermore, I played on a designated RP server in a certain other MMO and it was no RP paradise. The vast majority of people didn't RP, there was no support for RP and a lot of people were actively hostile towards those who did RP. All people asked was that they didn't yell random OOC stuff in shout and say channels or disrupt gatherings and people couldn't even do that; if people with a lot of friends are on a RP server, their non-RPing friends are going to join them even if they have no interest in roleplaying (and let's not get started on people who join random servers where they don't even speak the language already just because 'the server has a cool name'). It created friction between the RPers and non-RPers in that game I played. Pretty sure it will create friction here too. I feel as though the RP community is strong enough to survive this and build up thriving new communities in lots of different locations.
