Man, I thought this died back when WoW started offering bonuses for players in need... As was explained then, and explained now, you play the role required to keep the queue moving along, you get the reward. No, you don't get a reward for clogging up the queues with a role that is in abundance, that would be silly.

if you tell the tanks that theyre not needed, your queues will be worse as dps tbh

Well it would be more interresting if you could transfer XP to another Job. So for example instead of giveing the XP to the tank give it to your Black Mage for example.

By that still doesn't fix the issue of not enough tanks and if the feedback from this update is any indicator, there might be less.

They could also: not ruin tank stat scaling, breaking it in 4.0 after fixing it back in 3.2; not release two interesting damage jobs at once, without anything else; and not show such favoritism toward one of the healers while stepping on the others.

    SE fostered this environment.

I mean this is normal for expansions, you get a big influx of those players who only play for a short time right after an expansion, and those fairweather gamers tend to play damage jobs. SE didn't help matter with the above issues.

I just find it always ironic that the majority of return players play DPS when almost all the group content is easier to experience if you go tank or healer. Otherwise, you get stuck in queue for potentially a half an hour sometimes on these dungeons right now. Meanwhile, tanks are living the dream.

Trust me, we are not. Instant invites into content with 2 of the 3 tanks being so gutted and broken is not exactly the epitome of fun. Also, DPS classes are usually better-designed in MMOs.

Tanks have an easier time to get into group content. Once in there they usually have it harder than DPS though since almost all problems will be blamed on the tank and/or healer - simply because when those make mistakes it is usually far more obvious than when a DPS makes mistakes.
So lots of people prefer playing DPS since they are seen as easier to play - even if that isn't quite true.

You could use the same argument they used about adding two DPS classes won't make people change roles to refute this.

    I'm here to suggest something.
As everyone know, it's definitly easier to queue as a tank or healer since there's is more DPS than healer and tank.
While I understand that XP bonus in roulette are given to tanks to encourage people to play these class, it doesn't solve this problem, it never solved it.
    But here's my idea.
Since Tank and healer can go on duty easier than DPS (who have to wait generally about 30 minutes), why don't you give that little xp boost to DPS instead to compensate the time they have to wait? This way, during the leveling, if you are queuing for dungeons or whatever, you'll need to do less run and it'll feel less frustrating to level up a DPS.

That's won't solve the queue time indeed, but I personnaly would enjoy that.
Really don't think would would. I always do roulettes as a tank for the extra XP and i know some of my friends do the same
