They...Just *did* that. There's a whole set of incentives for moving from the high pop servers to the lower ones.
i'm playing on the Chaos data center and this has just a stupid configuration. The daily timer reset is just when everyone is back home from work and the server load is high even without all the people logging in because they can do all their daily quests again now.
Why dont you let the daily timers reset during a time period when the server load is lower than average? or why dont you use different reset timers for different people? like 3am + x while x depends on the first letter of the last name of a character?
And why dont you do the same thing for forced logouts?
Oh and why is there no captcha-like thingy to solve if you want to avoide the auto logout? If you dont solve it within 5 minutes you get kicked out due to afk?
Let people enter instance queues without being fully logged in. Low CPU and GPU load until they get added to a instance group and they can hit "join" and the instance loads without them having to stand afk somewhere like an hour to wait for entry?
Do you see any other server on Aether with 3hr login queues still?
Balmung should have been closed to new characters YEARS ago. They completely let it get out of hand to the point that it now even affects unrelated servers.
If done properly, there are ways to make a server split fair. Let people pick on the mog station which of the 2 new Balmungs they want to be on. The split doesn't need to be exactly 50/50. People that don't pick will be assigned randomly. Since we have cross-server partying now statics should not be disturbed by this (and people can coordinate it anyway if they want to be on the same server).
Afterwards, put a hard cap on the servers and let no one transfer to it if that hard cap is reached. Also don't allow new character creation in that case.
Then let them stay in there queue forever if they don't want to move and let us, who did the effort to move to less populated server, alone.
Why should we all be punished just because people on Balmung refused to move ?
I had friends on Cerberus too, leaving was not easy, but paying a sub to stay in a queue was just not an option, I moved and can still play with them in PF.
They wanna stay on their overpopulated server ? Fine, let them stay
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
INB4 lobby server crashes because thousands of players are trying to log in at the same time.
INB4 the queue times during prime time don't change noticeably and all we get out of this is more inconvenience.
INB4 dps players can't do any DF instances for at least 1.5 hours every day with these queue times.![]()
lol you do know before people abused the afk the queues were still a joke. The queue is what caused people to abuse the system
