So,... who's sticking with RDM/SAM after the hype train passes?

Right now I am sticking to sam but I am going to be trying to get some more stuff to 70 to see how I feel. Red Mage admittedly is really exciting in pvp and paladin is pretty fun now to. I don't have those two at 70 so I will need to before I decided.

RDM is the dinamic caster the game was in need of and that most players enjoy playing in mmos: BLM is around long af casts with very methodical rotation, and SMN is about dots and pet management, both of wich don't tend to be favorites for mmo players.

I've seen so many people fail at playing red mage that I just lost all faith in anything. Seen too many people hardcasting raise or verthunder/aero instead of jolting then casting the long cast.

I dont understand how people can fail at this, I mean occasionally I press the wrong button and hard cast(if I catch it in time I move to stop the cast) but I usually open with Jolt or Scatter and I use swiftcast for raise because I want to make sure it is insta cast without the need for an opener. still trying to wrap my head around how someone can fail to get this job......

I liked and mained summoner since 2.0. Then Stormblood came around and changed summoner so much I didn't like it. I then got the idea to try red mage cause it looked cool. So I tried it and found out I liked it more then I ever liked summoner pre-stormblood. So yah I'm red mage for the win.

I originallly planned to Play RDM - but after some PodT-runs I felt that the class is a bit too simple for my likings. So indeed I ditched it.

Afterwards played Samurai. It was the other way around this time: I initially felt like the class is boring, but with playing more I realized that it's kinda deep System behind the gauge. However, there are so many Samurai Players that I decided to have Samurai only as a sideproject, maybe my third main class.

Long Story, short answer: I originally wanted to be a RDM, then I switched to SAM and right now I started with my old ARR-Paladin because he seems the most awesome right now.

RDM can solo things and raise just like SMN and on top of that RDM is also fun to play. There is no other dps job to change to, really. Until they bring a melee healer or a tank with an interesting rotation, I'll probably not play those roles. RDM shows that the devs are capable of designing more playstyles than just 1-2-3 combos and dots as priority, so I'm looking forward to cool new jobs.

Considering this is the closest thing I can get to weiss and I do find the class fun. I strongly believe it's going to be my main.

Well, Weiss's fighting style is very reminiscent of RDM but with a lot more swordplay.

More than "the hype train passes" I will say when the first rebalance patch arrives, not even necessarily a nerf to RDM or SAM, but a buff to other classes. Anyway, I will stick to PLD/DRK and SAM/MN

I'll stick with maining WHM but RDM is a lot of fun and might replace the currently very clunky SMN as preferred DPS.

Though I still expect heavy dps nerfs to SAM and RDM.
