I feel like the only tank that was actually messed up, significantly, was DRK just by the mere fact that they left it entirely the same while they made PLD significantly better and made WAR better at MT'ing.

If DRK stays in the current state I think Ill just level random DPS half-heartedly and make a crafting/gathering Empire...I usually main tank every game/expansion but the other two tanks do not interest me at all. While many will argue DRK as 'viable' the question being asked is why not just take PLD/PLD? And there is really not a good answer to it...RIP 2/3tanks...
I think quiting is a bit overkill.
Given the amount of voices about issues with tanking and with DRK/WAR tanks it seems inevitable for SE to at least make some statement about it soon.
And how they made WAR better MT exactly? We didn't get a single defensive ability in this expansion?
If you mean that they boosted dmg on IB and Defiance, I would say they had no choice considering they reverted attack power for tanks back to STR...
Just cancel the sub, see if 4.1 makes the desired changes and if not I dont think you will be the only one heading to a different game. Best thing to do imo, besides sharing your concerns on the forums. Even make a post on PF telling people to voice concerns in the forum. Nothing will change without a active discussion.
Some people roll deeps, others tanks, and others heals. Not all play styles interest people and some people only enjoy one specific roll. From a DPS perspective I dont see too many things that couldn't be fixed with easy tweaks (correct me if im wrong). From the other perspective there are entire play styles that just dont fill what people wanted from their roll anymore.
Only time will tell, but it would be funny to see the queues get longer. I'd laugh really hard. I know I wont be queuing into DF for a while and that really is the best satisfaction i've gotten out of my roll so far.
I tried my DRK today for a leveling roulette, wanted to Bard it but i wanted a quick que. Anyways, we got the Aery... that shit was boring as all hell. It was basically 1, 2, 3 spam like 2.x PLD. At least when I had Derilium and Scourge, and my MP drained I had to be mindful and tactical, in a sense; put scourge on each enemy, know when to use Souleater and when to use Derilium, monitor my MP. But literally once i had aggro it was the Dark Arts-Souleater combo over and over, and over. It was not fun at all.
I know SE said they weren't totally revamping the Battle system, but they actually did, we were expecting mostly everything to be the same, prune the useless skills, Fracture, Heymaker, Surecast, and replace them with more practical skills. but what we got was the removal of some skills we never asked for, several skills that were already a part of out kits, taken from each job and placed in a role pool, that we can't even access at all times. Now we have to choose if the skills we use to cross class are more valuable than the skills we use to have no matter what, (looking at you Esuna, Protect, and Eye for an Eye). Not to mention these new gauges are just tacky, literally, some just feel tacked on. Ones like SCH and SMN are "okay" because its just a new way to see their Aetherflow stacks, WAR is a redesign of their previous kit, okay. But ones like DRK and NIN, are just tacked on and don't serve any purpose until way later in their leveling, surely the Devs in their infinite wisdom could of found a way to work these new gauges into their life cycle in some way shape or form.
Its sad cause I really love the Stormblood story, but these battle changes were not what we expected and they don't feel as thought out as they should of been.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
I see so many valid complains and all, but i sill sit here and play tank because i'm a queue bitch. Even if the dumb down the role so that a monkey can play it i will still be tank XD
I am changing from warrior to SAM, as war isn't fun anymore.
Was fun while it lasted, bye! Have a wonderful time and check future changes now and then.
i always suffered from the "tankxiety" but i played DRK because it was SO MUCH FUN!
all the fun is gone with 4.0. i don't care about meta or balance at this point, i care about my gameplay and the feedback from my attacks, not the actual dps numbers. all the attacks with awesome feedback are gone - Delirium, Scourge, Dark Passenger is useless to use now, Low Blow and Reprisal doesn't give any feedback anymore... DRK feels so weak now, regardless if it actually is weak or not. not so much fun to play anymore...
managing mana was fun back then, now it's just spamming dark arts over and over. and the blood gauge? well... it has NOTHING to do with tanking. DRK lost so many defensive tools that i doesn't feel like a tank anymore. all what i am doing is dps.
so i quit tanking, since all what is left on DRK is my tankxiety, and going back to my WHM. it isn't the best class in 4.0 either, but it's FUN to play.

SE maybe Change the potency of skills but they won't bring old skills back up or changing mechanics with a patch.
So those of you who complain about the missing damage can look Forward. SE pretty sure gonna adress to this. Those of you who wish back old gameplay with DRK/WAR: Forget it. Not gonna happen till 5.0.
