If we got Beastmaster, I'd much rather have something that looked like it was raised in the wild, furiously dual-wielding stone clubs like some over-hyped drummer and blowing a ram horn to call beasts in for attacks.

Forget that loser with the whip; the circus closed down for a reason. No, I want something far more primal. Something that looks even crazier than whatever beasts they fight with.

Well it's FFXIV, as far as I know they always take things from previous FF games, so IF we get one, I'm almost sure we would get the whip-fanatic. lol

And Yoshi has also expressed a desire for XIV exclusive jobs, so we could get something inspired by a job like Beastmaster but not even close to it visually (much like Astrologian is with Time Mage).

Also the other thing to factor in is that fluid weapons like whips are more of a pain to design than the more static weapons found among all the current jobs.

That's the other part of it. A visual front for that link to Time Mage.

Gravity--an iconic spell of Time Mage--belongs to Astro here. Time Dilation for Astro is the equivalent to Time Mage's Extend spell. There's also this link in the 50-60 storyline for Astro:

The primary antagonist in the 50-60 storyline is claimed to be an Astro so strong that he could stop time. This is illustrated in the fight against him through his use of the level 60 spell Celestial Opposition--a spell which stuns and extends buffs, otherwise displaying the closest case of how a Stop spell would work in terms of game mechanics.

Well okay, I didnt get that far on my "astronaut" yet xD but now knowing that they get Gravity, I unexpectedly believe now that its a mix of time-mage and astro.
And that stop-type spell confirms that even more, right right.

Pretty much, which is their way of explaining Time Mage as just an empowered Astrologian like how a Necromancer is an empowered Black Mage, but both subjects are for another thread.

Back to the matter at hand, although Beastmaster has had some degree of mention throughout the game, anyone who has played Summoner in this game since oh, let's say....ever, could tell you that pet jobs aren't really going to be suitable until a change to the pet control system comes up, especially now given the whole ordeal about Bahamut-egi not having any controls when they are so desperately needed.

To the Summoner players who think I'm wrong on that, just ask yourself when the last time you found yourself in 3.x screaming at the screen because Garuda wasn't using Pandemic.
