Spiritmaster in Aion did a really good job of it, where half of your skills were dot/debuff effects and the other half were pet commands to use a variety of attacks and even buff skills. They also had a better approach with pets too, starting you off with kind of an all-arounder pet (tanky melee), then a proper melee damage pet, a tank pet, and ended with a ranged caster pet; each one having effects exclusive for each pet command skill while still having that skill provide the same general goal.I'd like to see someone do this archetype with the pet being the main focus. With the vast majority of your abilities being the pets abilities, and the player themselves having support abilities. The whip for example could be used for that. Crack the whip to inspire your pet to do more damage for 20 seconds, use it to snag your enemy's leg to add a heavy effect, crack them in the head to stun them, use it to bind them, etc..
I think it would be cool and something nobody has done to make the pet the entire focus pretty much. WoW I think was trying it with their Legion version of BM hunter, but failed miserably.
Unfortunately, it's not really a system that could be adequately implemented in this game due to pets prioritizing auto-attacks over player-input commands, whereas with Aion's spiritmaster, it was the other way around.
my view is pet system should more focus training and fight side by side with your pet. i agree that beast master should use whip for combats. when you attack your pet attacks. the skill ffxiv wise dex. i think beast master could focus pet have skill they learn for fight they own kind like original beast master. beast master could trait that focus give stats to they pet and share hp with it.
they many different pet system out there sometime best ideal is create list of them and look good feature and bad feature to keep and remove
Vanilla wow system
pet system
I going create list for other mmo title so people can see which feature like and dislike
Wow Hunter system
Pet had ability to like environment they live it
they had favorite foods
they could learn set skills they raise they health
they set families
pet would grow bigger
stable master could hold pets
guild wars 1-2
guild wars one had an island set for ranger
they no set system to store pets
guild wars 2 had underwater pets
you have as many as you want
Star War Galaxies pre-ce
they ability create pet and tame them and raise they raise for baby to adulthood
FFxi
pet could be tame for limit time then they would turn on their owners

well kinda like the chocobo companion, i like that a lot
that system i like too! there was so much to choose from, was so great!
ugh ._. although i liked capturing them, them turning into enemies again was so terribly heartbreaking![]()
I just want to have an Ahriman as companion instead of a chocobo. In the case of BST, I would love the Ahriman pet. There was a BST job in XI, this could be similar. I don't see it as a complicated thing.
- You can not have both Chocobo and BST-pet out at the same time
- But BST brings new skills to Chocobo companion if that is the pet of your choice
- You can only have 1 pet out at the same time
- Monsters are already there, they just have to add a few skills to each of them.
- No size reduction for pets (like they awkwardly did with SMN), except for huge monsters like Behemoth (if available)
- Levels and skills for pets, traits for BST that unlock additional skills for each pet
- Pet summon skill: very long casting, long recast
- Can not change to a different pet during boss battles or instances
- Can not summon pets in big cities
- I see it more as a main job BST then possibility of an advanced job: Necromancer (for example)
- Could also be a variant of Arcanist
I think you should be able have both the chocobo and beast master pet out at same
I doubt we will see Nercomancer at all it been seen as villain of the sorry
second can not summon pets in big cities ruin the fun

these self explain
