    I was always a fan of the pet taming aspect of WoW's hunter... for anyone who's never played, and if I remember correctly, there were basically a limited number of pet classes, but you could tame any beast you find in the wild to be your pet, including rare mobs. So from a cosmetic standpoint, it was a ton of fun. It would be awesome to see something similar done in FFXIV. Perhaps it could coincide with improved pet controls for SMN and SCH as well. And maybe they could open up the ability for SMN to have a variety of glamours by doing *something* to the primal of their choice, and SCH could obtain fairy glamours maybe in some other way (something with sprites? I don't know.) And now, this is really crazy, but those little "blow dart" quest minigames had me thinking... imagine if you had a channeled ability where you basically entered the body of your pet and could engage in action-style combat for a brief period.

    that^ sounds awesome! unfortunately I'm not really a warcraft fan ._. warcraft 3 was okay, but the rest i never cared about lol

    you know, i bet about 90% of people who unlock that quest probably want more than just those 3 carbuncle colors... i really hoped there would be more too lol

    I’d love nothing more than a Beastmaster job.

    But for the reasons I assume they’re leery of implementing Blue Mage, I can see there being lots of balance issues if the BST was allowed to tame monster/animals from the wilds. Don’t get me wrong, the idea and novelty would be great—but I could see it being more trouble than it’s worth for the dev team. When they could implement a “preset” pet instead. Having multiple pets in general would probably be just as tricky to balance, as they’ve shown with SMN. I’d much rather they focus on a single companion (one the BST and player themselves could feel more “bonded” to) and later just implement “pet glamours” to change its appearance.

    Just my personal opinion though. I’ll be honest, I’d take just about any BST concept. I just want one.

    i dont mind your opinion, but mine differs a little.....
    i would rather see an actual beastmaster than just another summoner-copy which has a preset pet too ._.
    the freedom of capturing whatever you want, to run around with a freakin morbol on your side! a MORBOL! yeessssss

    and no, please dont tell me to just go play pokemon if i want that stuff, the idea is... that its an FF game, and the gameplay is MUCH better than pokemon, thats the thing
    and pokemon doesnt have morbols xD

    i think we will see jobs like beastmaster and new jobs that fite in ffxiv along side of it. we also see jobs re-image like astro use some old ff ideal if you look ffxi there are simalar machinac use cards in the gambler

    that back then, was the only reason why i even joined FF11 with its rather terrible gameplay, it had a BST job!
    but when i think back to FF11? i always think of the BST job, and the only other thing i remember on it, is the gameplay which made other classes unplayable at all lol
    but on here? FF14 would have the perfect gameplay to make it even more awesome! (lets hope this time it will be more than just a 5min brainwash though, because having my own pet attack me is a terrible thing!

    I think if SE tried they compete with warcraft's hunter with beastmaster. Instead doing what warcraft has done by dummy down they hunter. SE could make beastmaster more awesome. they alot awesome system for beastmaster that make amazing. for example family could be base on Job quests. beast master could have permit compainon by they side because every one love cute cuddle tiger that rip you enemy face off. that why i suggest have it so that when one tame a beast is start out as baby or cub. a cute baby tiger then it get bigger and grow up.

    for example

    lvl 1 tiger cub
    lvl 20 adolescent tiger
    lvl 40 mature tiger
    lvl 60 expect hunter
    lvl 70 master hunter of tigers.

    this way we get see some fun models of cub of tiger and other animal like drakes, and it challenge SE in develope an awesome pet system for beast master
    plus beast master could have stat apply to both him/her pet and her/him self
    one thing for a game company is to look at opposing company and see what they put out there and see if they doing better.
    you also have family system as well. other things like favorite foods and favorite enivorment.

    I'd be happy to "Collect" companions as a BST, Spent enough time hunting rares in WoW on my Hunter over the years ....

    I would like to see the companion done as a mechanic rather than an auto attack bot with auto abilities.
    Would naturally be unable to be targeted directly or hit by AoEs.

    Would be awesome to have a set of 4 - 5 strikes shared between the BST and the beast (Basically a weaponskill on your bar that you press but the beast is the one that performs the animation) that don't combo directly with a specific other skill, but cause the "finisher" to change based on the order you did it.
    I guess a weaponskill version of the Mudras is the best way to describe what I'm thinking.

    With the companion not auto attacking or using abilities on its own, They'd be able to make the companion as much part of the visual experience as the player character, with its own skill animations etc.
    Cap it off with a gauge built up when you perform combos with the companion that causes you to jump directly onto the companion and fight from its back with unique abilities for the BST and the beast until the gauge depletes or something.

    Having to rank or level up the companion would be pointless busywork that would serve to require you to grind overworld mobs until it became "raid ready". Just having it scale with your own stats would be fine. Any growth of the companion would be entirely cosmetic.

    not neccesary Sylve look how one use Palace of the dead one use that for the companion aswell.

    i like alot what your say too. it could be set up that your companion gain exp for quests

    i think the system for chocobo is pretty good for it better it need modified for dungeon aswell

    it could also have favorite enemy it could go against
