I don't know it for sure, but I've seen a couple people say that Earthly Star's damage is calculated as if from a pet, so ~20% less than the potency suggests sounds about right.

...not that having that reduction in the first place makes sense. I can't imagine it would be all that hard to just list that actual potencies.

It doesn't though given that the Sch pets have benefited from the Mend boosts in the past. Assuming Earthly Star is a pet that doesn't get the mend boosts, then the difference should be 40% and not ~25%. I further believe that the tool tip is currently wrong with the reason being either an error on the translation team or a goof on the devs when they changed the ability's potencies from an earlier build.

I tested it with Earthly and Giant Dominance and they were both behaving as expected, but the end result was still about 25% off in both cases. I'm currently locked out of my characters due to how late SE and Amazon were at sending out the physical game, but I'll give a more detailed report when they arrive unless someone else wants to do in my stead. I also noticed that Earthly Star missed against a level 52 enemy at the beginning of the Earthly Sea, but I've yet to be able to replicate that. I believe I took a screen shot of the battle logs when it occurred, but I'm not sure how to post that here.

This is false. Pets have always been affected by Mend and Maim at least as far as 3.0 is concerned. A lot of people saw the tooltips and got excited, not realizing that it always gave pets +30%

For sure. I was just using that assumption to show that even if it wasn't affected by the mend traits, the numbers are still off.

It's not about Maim and Mend, pets just scale at ~80% compared to a player. Has been like that since... the start of HW, I believe.

Interesting. Do you have a source for the 80% scaling? I looked it up and the only thing I could find was pets taking "snapshots" of your character when summoned.

Embrace heals for roughly 30% less than you would expect from potency comparisons with players. It's been this way since Heavensward, and continues into Stormblood. For instance currently my level 70 SCH (ilvl 286) heals between 6000 and 6300 with its 400 potency Physick, whereas Embrace heals between 2400 and 2550 at 250 potency. This actually makes Embrace heal with an effective player potency of about 160, or almost 40% less than what I would have hoped for currently in game right at this moment, and I have pulled previous testing values in HW and also at level 60 in SB when the ratio was 20%-30%. This is also true for Whispering Dawn, which currently heals between 970 and 1050 for me on non-critical heal pulses, about 35% less than what you would expect from a 100 potency heal from a player. This basically means in order for the fairy to actually match its listed potency, you have to Rouse it just to break even.

I've tested Shadowflare and it still damages at expected potency so Earthly Star isn't effected because it's a ground skill, but it may be paying the "fairy tax" for some reason. Out of curiosity, does it still heal at expected potency values compared to Benefic?
