you can't stop that great big chunk of rock from smashing into the planet. and you can't stop the great lancer nerf of 2011. the video of 7 lancers killing ifrit in under 5 mins (or however long it was) has sealed your fate

and if Archer damage wasn't nerfed to hell and PGL and MRD could avoid sear then it could be done with any combination of DPS classes in that time. Are you saying LNC is OP because they have further attack range? You should really experience the fight before you jump on the bandwagon, and no I dont buy the "maybe I'm on an alt account" BS. PUG is probably up next for the next primal will the answer then be to nerf it into oblivion?

i'm not arguing with you. and i don't think its fair. i am only pointing out the direction of lancer as i see it and giving my reasons for believing this to be the case. there is a pattern, the pattern seems to be as one class gets really strong, the devs look at ways to nerf it. as i said this not something i'm wishing for. but seems you want to attack me. explain why i need to try ifrit to have an opinion on the videos i have seen? i have an opinion on die hard, but i have never been in a building full of terrorists

Yes I think you should experience it, because if you did you would realize why lancer is top pick for DPS in that fight and thats because they can avoid sear damage allowing healers to focus on the tank and not have to worry about the DPS, and we also have short animation locking attacks allowing us to avoid eruption/plumes easier. In any other fight any other DPS class could keep up and or rival our DPS, MRD has the highest hitting attack in the game Maim but that doesn't change the fact that their attack range is shorter and they will take 300ish damage every few second in the Ifrit fight.

yes i know this i have seen the videos. so to the question why won't ppl take any class other than lancer. what do you think the solution will be? you can't increase the range of the other classes or reduce the range of lance, so one idea is. you can give arch back their multi shot and make their pierce moves work, and increase damage done by other dps classes. or another idea is make lancer less appealing by reducing the damage they do or increase there miss rate. also don't forget 1.20 is going to be the biggest rebalancing patch we have had yet. i think mages ar going to be the prefered choice for ifrit after 1.20 but that is just a thought

P.S. i'm sure i heard the dev's are looking into the problem with other classes not being invited to ifrit. i'm not blamig lancers or saying it your fault you can't blame ppl for using the best tool for the job. but i can see why SE would want to change this

My suggestion? well I have a few not set on any one in particular but there are a few adjustments they probably could make if for anything just to stop excluding other classes.

fight suggestion:

Remove sear
lower the frequency sear occurs.

Class suggestion:

Healing:

reduce MP cost on cures
increase potency of ethers
reduce delay from not moving to MP regening

Archer:

give the option to turn auto attack on
give them an ability that cost 2K TP that does a certain amount of damage and increases in damage for every extra point of TP over 2,000


any of those suggestions would fix the problem none of them would nerf any class.

Now keep this in mind, what would happen if they nerfed LNC damage? Nothing LNC would still be prefered, the only thing this would change is making the fight longer, you would know this if you actually experienced the fight and not based everything off one video, and btw other LS's have defeated Ifrit faster with less lancers, that fight is about skill, quick thinking, and positioning not about raw DPS.

Oh about the PS: they said the same thing about Damzehl Darkhold, now look at Archer. Also I'm am one of the leaders of an LS trust me when I say it blows to tell Johnny he cant come because he isn't lancer, I want equal rights for all DD classes.
