I understand your feeling. It's like when we do something with our passion and love, and we feel proud of it, then suddenly, boom! It became a fashion and everyone jumps in. They're doing what you love, but only because it's a hot topic. So you can't help feeling they're not the "real" lancer, but just hitching a ride from what's fashionable/beneficial.

But well, since people can change class at any time they like, I could predict this to happen. I am not main lancer, though. And I must say I still love my Pugilist the best and don't feel as "natural" playing other class as when I am Pugilist.

Just don't let it bother you. YOU were there before it became a trend, and you know it.

Personally I don't like Lancer, so I won't start playing it no matter how useful it becomes.
I'll stay with Pugilist, even though it became the worst class ever.
It does not matter what others play, or what they say about a class.
You know what you played, you know you already were a lancer when nobody liked it, and that's the only thing that matters

The people who say "Why should you care" I care because my individuality is gone. I'm just the norm now, so is every other lancer. In FFXI I knew people by their job. You don't have that type of identidy now. Its all a big mesh. You ask a person with more than 2 50s, they can't tell you who they are and what role they play. I don't know, I know I'm being silly, but I just like the role playing aspect of that.

Well, you can always just decide what you want to be.
I think this freedom is way better than what you have in other MMORPGs (I didn't play FFXI, I have no idea how it worked there), where you have to get 10 characters for 10 classes.
Here, you can just try every class out until you know what you really are - deep down.
Seriously, if you like roleplaying then you should know that you can become pretty much everything you want.
So if I'm a Pugilist deep down, it does not matter if my highest class is actually Conjurer instead and I know a lot about magic.
For roleplaying purposes and just for having a Final Fantasy story in my mind, I am purely a Pugilist.

And now please stop complaining like a little child who is angry because it's not special anymore.
We all understand you, but it IS a current trend, and complaining and QQing on the forums won't change it

LOL I think it's more childish to hop in the "fashionable" class group and then brag about it. Can't understand why would people do that.

On the other hand, it's easier for me to understand why you're feeling pouty about Lancer becoming a trend. I would get mad at my bro too, if he picks up PGL and just go around killing mobs to brag about how awesome HE is, without even really loving being a Pugilist.

Well even though I'm an original I have told folks to level Lancer from the get go, you get so many useful abilities to sub you are gimping yourself if ya dont.
