Why would I play a healer and deal with extra salt when I can be playing one of my favorite jobs in the whole FF franchise?

People on my Server are already paying for Tanks/Healers to be able to finish theyr roulettes in Time. Its kinda sad.

^ Tortured myself to lvl 70 with BRD cause I love the new changes and how it plays. I started power lvling a healer to lvl 70 now cause I can't stand those queue times anymore. Luckily I like playing healer but damn those poor DDs.
I knew we would have a terrible time by releasing 2 brand new highly anticipated DPS jobs at once like this...and them actually being fun as all hell. >_>;
But I mean, from both tank and heals roles, they ruined 2 jobs on either side...So there's that.
If they switch SAM to tank this late in the game, then they need to change RDM to healer
But RDM already out DPS's AND outheals SCH!![]()
That doesn't make it any better either, because people who don't play a tank or healer don't play it for a good reason - They don't enjoy it. You are literally telling people to either play something they don't enjoy or not play at all for large amounts of time. You could just flip them the finger and say:"Screw you, got mine!" instead, that'd convey the same message.
Addressing the issue in a constructive way can only two ways:
First, brainstorming how to allow more DPS to play their favorite job without long queue times.
And that's fairly simple: You can open more slots for DPS (you can go all the way to 1-1-6 with a full party setup), or you can develop more content that doesn't need tanks or healers in the first place. The latter marginalizes tanks and healers, the prior will cause issues when the content itself is in low demand, as the issue becomes finding players in the first place.
Second, brainstorming ways on how to make tanking and healing more fun, so that more people pick up these jobs on their own volition.
That one is hard, because fun is subjective. I know I loved tanking speedruns as DRK, with it's 15 seconds of yolo no-grit godmode via Blood Price DA-Abyssal spam. Other people apparently didn't like that as much. You'll probably end up realizing that making tanks and healers more DPS focused isn't such a bad thing, as DPS players will become more inclined to switch. At the cost of the core players of the role, unfortunately.
Just pinpointing my issue. No. A thousand times no, Samurai is not a tank and should not be one. Why do you want it to be a tank? Because it's popular and it will make everyone wanna be a tank? Well the numbers are in, and DRK...didn't achieve that despite being the reason that they made that into a tank. Also, we need non-slashing based tanks at some point, and currently 2/3 of the tanks use swords anyway. I'm all for more tanks and healers, and support heavily the idea of a Blue Mage tank. But no, dps has needed an actual sword using class for a while now and while yes RDM uses swords, it's hardly the bulk of their rotation.
What we need very soon: Fixes to the Tanks, Give Warriors flash back so they have less trouble with pulling large groups of mobs, remove the Job gauge killing while switching stance so it doesnt feel we dont have anything to do, just things like that (wich is ofc WAY not all that needs to be changed). Maybe.. MAYBE reconsider Samurai being a DPS. A ton of people prayed its going to be a Tank. Ofc there is a small percantage that likes the changes but it really is the case that most Tanks or now former Tanks are not happy with it.
Just to make it clear: this is not a flamethread or whatever people may call it, i just wanted to point out some (clearly not all) of the problems.
Thank you and have a nice Day.
I mean, this is a MMO. Obviously, people who have connections will far better than people who have none.Great, so your friends don't have to wait but 2 strangers still have to, because you didn't play with them. If you hadn't gone with friends, your friends would have to wait and the strangers would not. How does that help the situation exactly? It only shifts the issue around.
I do think they really should have thought more about tank and healer changes because I bet less people are playing them now.
No. All people need to do is wait til the new jobs are more than a week old and for people to go back to their mains. The amount of rebalancing that would be required for every single instance in the game to accommodate more dps would put 4.1 arriving in March of next year.
And it's not the fun factor that keeps people from tanking or healing. It's the aversion to responsibility and the fear of underperforming. Anyone can squeak by on dps and most people won't notice.
This is what happens when people bandwagon jump.
exactly also people forget there a lot of people who have quit and are coming bk now for the expansion , and well obviously lvling a dps class ^^No. All people need to do is wait til the new jobs are more than a week old and for people to go back to their mains. also its very vague to say without hard numbers just coz a few people on the forums think they dont want to tank, that this is making any difference DF wise ^^
