So either you underestimated those healers, or you only had poorly managing healers. Just because some people do it wrong, doesnt mean its a bad thing.
Thats something people need to get in their head.
Probably both if I am to be honest for the healer part. I am pro-active person, so I would rather deal with a situation before it even becomes a situation to begin with. Like I said, if they have the gear for it, I am fine with them dpsing. If they don't, I would prefer they abstain from it until they have the appropriate gear.

When I check it, I've seen them casting Malefic, Stone IV or Broil when my HP is 5%. I think they ar risking much more now they don't have cleric stance, and some people can be annoyed. I get annoyed when I die and I see the healer casting DPS spells.
yeh ive noticed that to ^^

A lot of healers are used to dungeons being faceroll easy so that they can go extended periods of time without using any healing spells. This is no longer the case, at least for the meanwhile, Tanks can't really even double pull without a good chance of someone dying.

Almost every single stormblood dungeon and trial have been intense enough where it's hard to find a time to stop healing, and when i do i have to consider how much MP i've got, and if i'll have enough to waste on some damage.

Which is why it's very important for all ranged/magical dps to cross class refresh/mana shift so that they can support their healer O__O

I'd suggest not using mana shift unless you clearly seeing them doing nothing. WHM has Thin air (0 MP cast for 12 secs), Tetra, and Bene, which all cost zero. Divine Benison also costs zero, and Assize costs zero.

The trick with Assize is that it's not efficient. You need to use it, but if you're not near anything to cause damage to, or your party is spread out, you lose the benefits of it.

Likewise, Thin Air pretty much only has a use when combined with Holy or Cure III if you still have MP. It's more useful upon revival if you don't have assize or lucid dreaming available.

As for big pulls, I know some people want to try and pull everything, I've always been able to keep up with those kinds of big pulls with Cure/Cure II alone, though it is heavily dependent on the tank. If you have to resort to Medica II on trash, the tank is too squishy, and doing so will rip hate off the tank every time.

I have only done SB content as a healer, so I haven't run into these healers letting people die and running out of MP. But it all seems very different from my experience. As a white mage with the new tools and lowered Assize recast, I basically never run out of MP. Though my play style has never quite matched up with what I read on the forums anyway. I've never been one to use Regen and Medica II and call it a day as far as healing; I've always relied on Cure II. And now that's really paying off. I think maybe I've always been playing the job the way Square Enix wants people to, lol.

But still, how are you running out of MP? Is it just Holy spam? Here's a tip, guys: don't indiscriminately spam Holy. If you have a ton of MP or Thin Air is up, sure, go for it, but there are plenty of good times to use Stone IV and Aero II. If there are three mobs and the DPS is AOEing them down, target the one that has the most HP left. You'll lose a lot less kill speed than you'd think (since you're taking time off the back end of the fight picking off the stragglers), and will have a ton more MP. If anyone ever needs to slow down to wait for you to get MP back, you're doing it wrong.

If your tank is doing big pulls you can't keep up with while DPSing, don't DPS. And definitely don't waste all your MP on Holy if you're going to need it to keep people alive. This is just common sense. I don't know why healers seem to be so short-sighted.

Thin Air, even used on something low-cost like Stone IV spam, still gets you several thousand MP in savings. You should use it as much as you can get away with, though obviously save it in situations where you're likely to need it soon. You're just wasting MP if you hold it back. Which is apparently a common problem, based on this thread.

I must be on the nicest server of all time. I have never been yelled at for DPSing. Also, I've never been yelled at for not DPSing enough.

    Here's my opinion:

Do what you want to do.

Some people in this game can be somewhat tight hinged...and it's just a video game. It's not a diplomatic crises situation for two warring nations, it isn't a pandemic outbreak of cholera, it isn't a terrorist attack. It's a f***ing video game.

So my advice is: play it to have fun. Enjoy yourself. Do your job well and most of all have fun doing it and have fun trying to figure it out.

If you enjoy dpsing and can heal well then do it! If you aren't comfortable dpsing and only heal, then do it! Have fun!

Don't take it as seriously as some folks do. At the end of the day, it's just a video game. It isn't real life. It isn't a funeral or a wedding. Have fun doing it.

My thought process on tanking is as follows:

Keep me alive, and I don't care what else you do.

Soon as I am dead and I've used my CDs to do so (And I am not one of those tanks that switch to Sword Oath mid battle because I understand that right now, gear impacts how squishy I am and I'm not in the mood to give my healers a heart attack), I will give it another go without much of a word. But if I die another time and my CDs are used, I will voice that I would suggest that the dps of the healer should be reduced so I don't die.

Don't get me killed. Otherwise I can't do my job for you. >.> Bout all I ask.
