Less competition of what? You still sharing gear with other DPS classes and queues not going to do anything about Duty Finder queues regardless if you are a BLM or SAM

You have a point when it comes to gear but I was thinking more in terms of group composition. With all the RDMs and SAMs running around it's going to be harder for them to find a raid spot when compared to another class that's less played. With all the changes to the classes I'm not familiar with which classes will be brought along for raid utility and such. I know the "wanted" classes used to be BRD, NIN, and MCH due to their support.
IMHO that only applies if you going to endgame. I think all jobs are viaable now since the whole composition was one reason for the battle system changes. I could see MNK being less wanted since SAM took their spot as insane selfish dps class. Time will tell when we get the raidsYou have a point when it comes to gear but I was thinking more in terms of group composition. The question here would be: Do you want to raid in SB? As in: real raiding; taking down Omega Savage (or whatever its going to be called) with a static? (As far as I can tell from your achievments you havent been into raiding until now - could have changed ofc!) But if you still have no plans to find a static and try the hardcore raids: It doesnt really matter what class you pick. For the NMs and the 24-man-raids it doesnt matter what dps you pick, so just play what you enjoy most!
Since it will take a while til the release of the raid itself, you might even have time to level a second class, depending on how fast you're taking your first one through the story - my personal advice would be to level ninja through the mainstory (you know, Doma and such...) and then level either BLM or BRD before we get the raid, makes you a bit flexible if you want to look for a static. Personally I prefer bard over blackmage, but thats a very personal preference.
Again: for any content that isnt the hardcore-endgame-raid it wont matter which class you're playing.
I actually do intend on trying raiding this time around, I attempted a static back when Seph ex and Alex was endgame and it didn't last. I'm thankful for the advice given and I think I'll take your advice and try to level two of the three, with NIN being the one I take through the story.Since it will take a while til the release of the raid itself, you might even have time to level a second class, depending on how fast you're taking your first one through the story - my personal advice would be to level ninja through the mainstory (you know, Doma and such...) and then level either BLM or BRD before we get the raid, makes you a bit flexible if you want to look for a static.
