Have we gone from anger to self loathing angst?
Yes but the people from the other server didn't have a choice to be with besaid did we? Two servers were involved plus the people that were told to move from servers that were going to JP data center.Actually. Balmung is the result of merging another server with Besaid, the 1.0 Roleplaying server, which was done before a realm reborn. So technically, Balmung was pushed to be a RP server before it was a legacy server. Nothing against you, I just wanted to correct the misinformation there.
If you transfer to a preferred world I believe it's free. here's the link if you want to have a look. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...5d22338cf55ce7we've had several move over already from the shouts camping Raubahn.
Ah alright. I'm Gilgamesh here. I started out on that server and didn't mind the queue times. Even during the HW launch it wasn't this bad. If it doesn't get any better than yeah, I'll definitely look into it.
currently in queue right now after getting d/ced from POTD. Started at 3,300. Now currently at 2,524. *sigh*

That is to be expected. Call them excuses all you fancy, wanting to stay with your friends is perfectly justifiable, especially in a game where social interaction is a major selling point. It isn't stubbornness, it is simply putting our own enjoyment above random strangers on the internet. You are essentially asking people give up potential connections with those who aren't willing to transfer, their house and/or all work put into their FC for... what exactly? Square Enix had years to figure this out and chose to happily collect $18 instead. If it's bad enough, they could make a brand new RP server and allow Balmung players to transfer their houses and FCs over without any fuss. But that would cost them a lot of money. So... we know that won't happen. We made Balmung a roleplaying server ourselves. We have the option to migrate since we aren't official. We have the power to change this, but again people are stubborn, and they don't want to leave, unless there was a mass exodus, but it won't come. Not enough people will make it happen. It's irony of itself.
Got another question guys. About FCs, and yeah I looked around and didn't find anything official.
Can FCs be transferred? I have a small max level one with a friend and was hoping to bring it over. If not, do FC owners transferring to a preferred world get any aid in rebuilding their FC? I vaguely remember reading that somewhere but can't find where I read it.
I'm actually quite certain that Balmung is going to get force split since I doubt it's going to reach the levels they want. That is to be expected. Not yet, FC stuff is coming later.Got another question guys. About FCs, and yeah I looked around and didn't find anything official.

In a week, or two weeks, everything will be back to how it was last Wednesday. We made Balmung a roleplaying server ourselves. We have the option to migrate since we aren't official. We have the power to change this, but again people are stubborn, and they don't want to leave, unless there was a mass exodus, but it won't come. Not enough people will make it happen. Yes, the server needed to be locked because it was going to get out of control. But the server itself clearly is just broken because there's a huge population of players on the server trying to do the exact same thing--and even then, it's not a server problem. It's a data center problem.
You can't say it's our fault, either. SE could've locked it any time they wanted. It's not like we, the players, know if we are pushing the server limits. SE was happy to take people's money to transfer to Balmung. They allowed the problem to happen. Because they wanted cash. Now it's their job to make it scale.
I doubt they go that route. They aren't just going to randomly split the server, and even if they did, people will just transfer to wherever their friends end up or quit the game entirely. It's far more likely they just keep Balmung locked indefinitely. Despite what some insist, I suspect the server is more than capable of handling the population it currently has, but was locked to prevent a crisis scenario.
