If a dungeon is SO important that it cannot be skipped for the sake of the story, then there should be a little more care on it to avoid this big mess on the very first day of EA.

    Better safe than sorry.

apologies not accepted. Its simply unforgivable that given the numbers of preorder, the amount of active subscriptions, the data, the years of mmo development and experience SE has, we players find ourselve for the 1000000th time in this absurd situation.
Yes bad stuff can happen, yes we can understand that. What we can not understand is that it always happen in the same way, always.
How about you invest into network and servers instead of always tryin to squeeze more people in? Hoping it will just work? It does not. Stop apologizing for something that clearly you underestimated on purpose because you dont want to spend money on your servers and improve them.

People can only take so many slaps in the face, eventually they get tired.

    Pathetic.

    No, they cannot.

As I explained, that would be like saying that an overcrowded stadium can be fixed. The only way you could "fix" it would be reconstructing the entire stadium to make it bigger... and then all that would do is cause it to become overcrowded just a little bit slower.

This kind of crowding and problems is a fact of life like death or taxes.

Oh my... So Blizzard made some kind of magic during legion launch?

Guess that when your wallet starts getting lighter you better learn some magic tricks.

While I agree this sucks (I spoke earlier in this thread about giving up for the day), this problem can't just be simply "fixed". It's gonna take some time and, more than likely, bigger servers which comes with a host of other problems the devs will need to deal with. At the very least, we know they're working on it and they aren't keeping us totally in the dark. I'm not saying folks shouldn't be angry, and I'm definitely not saying everyone should roll over on this. But I'm just trying to keep the cup half full here. Constant negativity and ire isn't going to help anyone.

That magic disappeared with the Diablo 3 launch though, didn't it? Not every launch, and certainly not every game, should be directly compared to each other.

we pay for an early access that we have to wait to play.... what a joke

you take the money but your server wasn't ready to hold that amount of people ? we're talking about SE or some random company here ? so disappointing.

    too many apologies ...

I do not want a compensation, I want what I pay for!

    feels like i getting scammed

    Cheers.

Blizzard utilizes far more servers than FFXIV would. I would imagine their capacity to handle server load accommodates the idea of millions of players for them. Remember that WoW suffered rough launches in some form for most of their releases. I think it was just Legion that didn't have them too much... like random disconnects are always a potential problem. I still remember people getting stuck in the copter or being disonnected trying to complete the intro quest for Mists lol.

To be honest, even Legions launch was not done without its own bug and stress testing with the players. The entire pre-expansion event was basically a live beta test for Legion, which did suffer problems at times. Let's also not forget how player funneling is handled, which is the heart of the problem for this game. Bottlenecking practically every player to one specific function of the server is going to make it crash. Not even Blizzard's servers would be able to handle that. Legion succeeded in preventing this problem thanks in part to how dispersed players were.

Just as I said in the second line, that magic only happens when your wallet starts getting lighter... on Diablo 3 launch their wallets were so heavy they needed to carry it with their arms. But after the fiasco that was WOD launch and WOD as a whole they had to start acting.

And Yes, every launch and every game should be directly compared to each other, since they compet for the same money and same time to be played.

Yet within 3-4 hours they signficantly alter the quest to reduce load, and make it doable...

I'd wager that was more a bug due to stress on the server. In other words, I firmly believe it was something that had rectified itself once players (the source of the stress) stopped overloading it. Time fixes everything when it comes to server load (along with maybe a bit of a helping hand for optimizing/limiting load).
