HW wasn't anything like this.They should really stop calling this early access and start calling it open beta. It was the same for heavensward unplayable until early access is over. Oh you get disconnected? here is a 3 hour queue, but here's something you'll really like. We created a bottleneck in the MSQ just for you, because we know you like that!
Reminds me of wow and their garrison quest other game exact same issue; developers not thinking/ preparing what will happen when there are a lot of players trying to get into the same instance.
It can't be that hard to temporarily increase the instance/ login server capacity when you release a big expansion for a big game!

Day 1 was the server kept crashing and that's when they started the instancied area and the whole return of the limited number of instance for msq etc...
SB they just right away put limit only the handful of people that rushed at the first hour got through pretty much.
I can vouch for that, I specifically didn't plan for much SB today due to HWs launch. This is pretty much standard for MMO launches.It was worse.

Wait what, really? I was on Sarg then and I had only a lobby error or two when I was relogging from a fantasia. Guess I was lucky, I didn't know anyone who had anything more than that either. My bad then if that was common.It was worse.

I had no issue because i pmuch blasted the first area and when the congestion fix were being thrown on the server i was already past lv53-54.
The major issue was the multiple server reboot in the early hours, then the maintenance before it was a bit more stable.
They need to either increase capacity and just lower for other instance or they need to just trow a maintenance or server reboot after 1h to flush some players out. Stupid thing but that's how lot got through in HW.
