War is awfully political, especially when it's not Ishgard that's on the brink, but Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul'dah. I think we need lots and lots more politics, THAT'll make the fight more difficult.
That's probably why the arch nemesis of Superman is a corrupt CEO and Politician. YOu can't just attack an all powerful demigod. You need to outsmart it. Or you can be Zenos freaking Galvus and mop the floor with him, Y'shtola, Lyse and Yugiri.
