Sorry love, XIV itself already did. Look at the revamped character window and role skills, separated into "Tank", "Healer", "Melee", "Ranged", and "Caster".
The distinction might mean something if dungeon queues called for a tank, a healer, a melee, a ranged and a caster. But they don't.
