That feels like the developers intentions, they want us to submit and apologise for not appreciating their Astro baby, let's face it they hate White Mage for popularizing stance-dance and holy spam dungeon speedruns.
Which is why they demolished SCH's ability to DPS effectively in these dungeon speed runs right? Uhhh.... =(
What a silly thread TBH, this isn't WoW, the job system ensures that if your preferred class doesn't quite fit the bill you can simply hop to the nearest alternative that does with very little negative impact on your progression (Especially so with a level cap reset hitting at the same time).

How is it reasonable to have one job not considered usable in some content all of a sudden?
But what if I don't want to play Scholar or Astro? "You can heal you just have to play a class you don't want to" isn't much of a solution.

To be fair, the grinding is tedious for some, and I know several WHM mains who don't enjoy the AST play/feel.Which is why they demolished SCH's ability to DPS effectively in these dungeon speed runs right? Uhhh.... =(

Where did I say it was reasonable? I'm saying that unsubbing because of it is petty. It will still be valued in casual content, and it's only really endgame content where it will be seen as significantly weaker than the other two, which again, will hopefully be fixed very quickly.
I played PLD in 3.0, I know what it feels like to be the unwanted job.
IIRC, wasn't AST not half as good as it is now when it was introduced? But it received balancing, and upgrades, and fixes, from potency changes to card changes to what not. Unfortunately, with the expansion not even released yet, and without being exposed to how well it performs in actual content played by actual players, SE won't really know if they did anything wrong - similarly, we won't know if they did anything hilariously right. I can't rightly tell anyone who doesn't want to to stick around and force themselves into it, but the only way for this to blow over - be it because everyone's actually overreacting, or SE sees they made mistakes and fix them - is for people to play WHM once SB hits. And thankfully, there'll be enough people who'll still do exactly that. I'm not too worried.
They could but that would be way too easy. If you don't like something then see what else is out there for you, if nothing out there catches your eye it is time to find another game.
I was looking forward to playing over on MCH or DRK in 4.0. I wasn't thrilled (not saying what they got is good or bad) so I'm back to whipping out my cane and throwing HoT all over my party.
Things could change and they'll listen to player based demands, but they'll take into consideration what posts actually make sense and make valid points. Not someone who gets upset and throws a temper tantrum.
Yeah... looks like someone has a lot more to worry about than just WHM changes. This is the second time they've posted that fact and it doesn't say much about the guys character in a positive light. Same response I gave was I said I was going to tell my wife she couldn't go have drinks last night with her friend at a place and watch the warriors game. She laughed and told me to go f%$k myself and left to see her friend.
There are possibilities that how WHM is adjusted could need changes and they'll wait for the data to determine it. I think a lot is valid but a lot is overreaction. I'm guilty of it, with Summoner. Then I saw someone post a lengthy, but very detailed, 19 page breakdown and I am good to admit when I was wrong..and I was. I think a lot of this will calm down after the launch, some things will stay valid as issues other things will be shown to not have been a concern. Much like the SMN post, things just had to be looked at a different light that we weren't seeing. People have to realize they don't know everything and there's a difference between speculation and bi^ching.

Yeah, AST had a string of enhancements across the patches. It was just 3.4 where they pulled out the big guns and doubled down on it.IIRC, wasn't AST not half as good as it is now when it was introduced? But it received balancing, and upgrades, and fixes, from potency changes to card changes to what not. Unfortunately, with the expansion not even released yet, and without being exposed to how well it performs in actual content played by actual players, SE won't really know if they did anything wrong - similarly, we won't know if they did anything hilariously right. Given that WHM and AST currently play almost completely identically (minus some extra healing spells and more utility, but the basic kit is exactly the same). It's not an obscene request for people who like to min/max themselves. It's a very similar playstyle with no huge learning gap.
For everyone else, it's not like WHM is going to be totally shunned from all forms of content. It'll still work. They'll still be able to queue up for stuff and use the party finder. Unless you're hardcore into progression in savage i don't think you'll be barred from raiding with your friends.
Ok a few things..they made another utility healer. ok, fine, but they have it play...exactly like WHM (and with better CD...and with cure Potencies that are now just as good if not better than WHM). i'm not invalidating your argument, but..AST felt clunky at times for me, that's why i put down my astrolabe after trying a few dungeons on it.
Second point: WHMs are already shunned from savage/EX content until Echo comes (or kicked from DF/RF groups and not allowed into PF groups). while i'd also like to say friends are understanding, there are PLENTY of cases where i've talked to people on my server and gone "I thought you were a WHM main?" only to get the reply "...i had to change to AST because we already had a SCH and everyone else said we needed an AST, not a WHM". This is even in Casual/Midcore statics. They're being made to change and play a class they didn't like the playstyle for just because they're outnumbered 7-1. People do not want WHMs now, many feel this is going to get worse as things continue.
