Why are we wimps?

yes i understand a character must develope but here is my point, to use FFX as an example as well. Right from the start you are thrust in to this epic telling of a huge story of massive importance. Everything that is happening around you is epic and makes you feel like you are in for one hell of a ride. The quests dont give me that kind of a feeling. "Go to this tower and kill a bunch of rats!" doesnt make you actually care about the story. I guess what I'm saying is the hook needs to be stronger.

well an other example i do remember Final Fantasy 8 ..you cant say at first that you play an important role first as "Squall"... you are first a typical student of the balamb garden.. your first "real" mission is to do a silly "patrol" on this island. where we all and all get slowly more driven into the story.

Offline rpgs are much more story driven than MMorpgs...

MMorpgs are more drawn into the lenght than singleplayer games. because Online rpgs entertain also with group gameplay, crafting and so on. an Offline Final Fantasy keeps the gamers only playing to give one story highlight after an other.

There's a pretty big discrepancy, though. Even by level 25 in FFXI we were out saving children and killing dragons. Sure, we weren't god-slaying yet, but we clearly stood out as people who would someday have the potential to. We're at Rank 36~50 and we're not even clearly BETTER THAN ANYONE yet. I'm not saying we should be out there trumping the company leaders in combat but... idk... maybe like, beating up more than a goat ... would be nice... something people will actually cheer on.

ah ok so beating ifrit, as a primal (god) is something that can do any idiot? aussum conclusion.
i know what you want to do with lv 45 saving Eorzea from the garlean empire.. and kicking with one fingersnip the lv 90 "judges" into the abyss while you are for sure only lv 50...

its that what you want? and then what do you want to do with lv 75 eh?
