They want you because they consider your character STRONG is my point. That you completely missed. They don't go out of their way for every schmoe that walks into Limsa. Seriously, two different captains come up to you and fight over you. What more do you want?

Fact of the matter is, our characters are above average at strength in game in at best. Nearly a third of all the mobs in the game will wipe the floors with us and it'll be years before they raise the level cap enough for us to even consider fighting a
Garlean Legatus. And we wont do it 1 on 1 I guarantee you that. In the big scheme of things; we are not THAT strong. (yet)

Congratulations on getting rank 50 MRD yesterday btw. I'm glad you decided to celebrate it by actually doing the Marauder storyline

I beat up a crowd once, sealed up a hold into the void by dropkicking a demon, and beat up an already weakened Ifrit (didn't bother with Hard Mode). However, as for quests and the main storyline, our true identity, not our patriotism, has racked up the following as their highest achievements by the 33% mark:

    Lancer: Stab an (1) elemental.
Gladiator: Wound (1) homeless Ala Mhiagan
Pugilist: Punch (2) mages (one with each fist?)
Archer: Make an archer who is having a bad day have a worse day after he can't even outrun you because he's surrounded.
    Marauder: Not get killed.
Thaumaturge: Roast a lalafell (Okay, this one's not so bad. I guess. She had a bad attitude).
Conjurer: Drown three dogs (What is this, the NFL?)

Main Story: Not get outrun by three imperials, not get shot by juggernaut, escape with life intact.

yes and with lv 30! you compete against a primal god for the first time. woush.

i mean only this part, when entering the ifrit instance...dead people fall out the rift... the old elezen says "not again... no one ever successed in defeating ifrit" (oh well sure you didnt read it)... doesnt give you an "wow i'm such a hero" feeling when you're going to defeat ifrit as a primal god? aha

the end of the cutscene gives me an epic moment "wow that garlean knight has so much power... im not ready yet to beat him"

    I dont get it!
What do you want? is it like in WoW "Here you have your golden shiny-glowing-in-all-colors-armor".. for everybody to see you're a hero? killing the boss of the garlean empire?

NPC's to pray to you with your low lv? "oh holy player.".. you saved us from all. you killed an unimportant weak lv 25 dragon. (lv 75 players in the future will laugh at this)

even though there are going to be much more levels within the game after the first cap raise?
i dont wonder when reading this, why WoW is so successful. it gives the players the "glowing equipment" they want. even if they are just lowbes, they want to be the super hero lv 25-lv80. understood.

you have to think what will be later... and you have to messure this to what it is now.

and im not messuring this on the class missions... class missions are for me kind of "sidequesting" type.. off the mainstory. in offline Final Fantasys you have also unimportant sidequest missions, which you can do if you like to. jobquests are moe for getting background information about your job itself.

The beginning I can see us being weak to establish the key npc's of the game and then are role in the story plot. Then as we start making a name for ourselves it should have cut scenes with us as the ones kicking some butt. Depending on what class/job each cut scene should be taliored to it. I don't want to see a mage type using it stave to kill an enemy it should be a spell, one handed weapons type taking out a group of enemy's and sword and sheild either a sheild bash something in that regard make class/job diverse and epic feel to it. One thing I'd like to see as you progress threw grand campain rank is npc's salute you /emote of some type and praise you maybe even a present as you go by them like in /echo or something were only you see it or everyone see it open to debate on that.

One thing about cut scenes in MMOs in general

they leave the exciting "ass kicking" to your actual game play, not to the cut scenes, the cut scenes are usualy the bad guys setting up, and giving you a reason to want to beat them down, and so on

I mean, I dont wanna see myself beating up a bad guy in a cut scene, i wanna do that in game(and thats usualy why they do them as such)

Your using GC quests that i dont have a problem with as examples lol I actually very much like the GC quests. They really make you feel like something important is happening and you play a pivotal role in it.

I always chalked it up to a difference in cultures and a slight respect to role playing.

Western developers take no issue with creating a cutscene where your character goes all Kratos on someone for not watching where they're going and rips their head off. Then proceeds to shove said head into the unmentionables of a chimera. Then sets said chimera on fire. Then puts the fire out with ones own excrement.

Japanese developers, however, seem to take a mire polite route to what they put your character through, as they don't want to seem presumptuous about what kind if person your character is.
