Why not? There is no logical reason why a healer shouldn't be able to glamour tank gear. The current restrictions are neither sensible nor fun. They are just restrictive.I'm against this idea as originally proposed. Healers shouldn't be able to glamour tank gear. Bards shouldn't be able to glamour BLM gear. Etc. The current restriction that requires a job be able to equip a piece in order to display it as glamour is a sensible thing.

If it is like in 3.0, then some of them will show up as crafted gears for other roles in Stormblood.

I'm sorry, but from an aesthetic standpoint that line has been crossed already.
As I already mentioned, the Shikaree set for BRDs from ARR got made for all DoMs with the Hallowed Ramie set in HW with a new coat of paint. The Valkyrie dungeon sets for healers and casters are a recolored Lost Thief dungeon sets for ranged. MNK's Rainbow Bolero is based off of caster's Arachne Bolero. Ranged even got a craftable Pilgrim's robe set with the Rainbow robe set, heck even the Eikon sets between healers, ranged and Ninjas are shared models. Healers and Casters already share many many palette-swapped sets. The Uraeus coat and Astral silk robe gives all jobs access to range's Kirimu coat and healer's Arachne robe--- Point being, the only thing separating these gears from being "cross-role glamours" is color.
As for armored gear for non-tanks? Believe me, the options are already there even if they're scarce. Caster's Austere leggings, some parts of healer's Daystar set, Legacy Warrior event gear and Proto Ultima Mesh, all off the top of my head already are "armored" pieces that aren't limited to tanks and DRGs.
I can't agree with this enough. If everyone popped up in a DF in bikinis and seasonal gear, would Eorzea explode? No, because you could find out in less than 10 seconds who's playing what no matter what they have (or don't have) on.
Disclaimer: I still think weapons and job-specific armor should stay unique though.

To be honest I think all gear should be unlocked for all jobs can races why cas I can whare what I please irl so why can't I whare what I please in game people don't like it or that like job identity then where plate on your pld fur on your war and scale mail on your dark but seriously don't limit fashion just because of silly job identity self restrictions

The role specific gear of current expansion is crafted gear of next expansion.
It allow the devs not to create new gear models for recipes under the max level

Can Tanks get access to some LNC/DRG options...? >.> <.< -Goes to look up the Draconic Set of Maiming-
Not letting healers wear casting robes is a bit silly when they're just the same thing, but dyed ~edgy dark~ for casters and ~purity white~ for healers.
Someone in a previous thread suggested glams saving to job stones or gearsets instead of the gear to prevent the "now my MCH actually looks like it's wearing five mismatched pieces of trashbecause I glammed brd in the af gear" issue. Anything like that, whereby glamming a job-locked piece of gear made the gear count as "unglammed" and was thus reglammable for the other classes wearing it, would go a long way to alleviate that issue.
But in general, yes, I support the removal of restrictions on all non-AF gear, as long as you could wear it already on the appropriate job.
Give PLD access to the Ancient Buckler...... please!

Sure there is, they look ridiculous. If the devs want to maintain a certain aesthetic for jobs and roles, then that is all the reason you need. If that is unacceptable for you, and you're not having an enjoyable experience, then there are other games out there with less restrictions.
There was a similar thread pertaining to this several months ago that lasted a long time. There was an overwhelming amount of arguments about tankinis, chocobo suits, and imagery of glamour should allow us to glam whatever we want. It was so bad that some even expressed a desire to glam the weapons of one class to another. The thing is, you are glamming items with no job or role restrictions and they truly can be worn by anyone. It is a different story when wanting to glam items that do have restrictions on them.
I do believe the restrictions can be lifted somewhat, but those who want everything will never be content with anything less than that. I'm not that far away from the camp that wants some restrictions lifted (please lemme have the female Elezen starting boots!!!), but within reason. However, I think the devs know that if they give an inch, the playerbase will take a mile.
