I kinda agree and kinda dont. Ofc AF gear is specifically designed for certain classes, however, our current glamour system is in dire need of change.

Because right now, AF gear technically becomes completely useless even for glamming due to role-shared gear.

So IMO, either make AF gear role-shared or fix the darn glamour system so that I can make my WHM look like a WHM without my AST and SCH ending up looking like trash.

I don't think glamour should be job restricted at all. I love having complete freedom to design outfits in Rift and WildStar. Job restrictions mean everyone ultimately ends up looking very similar because their options are very limited.

This is how I've always felt it should work. If you have the appropriate job leveled up, you should be able to glamour it however you wish.

The chest piece is BRD/MCH only, the hat is the bard 50 af...
I can really only use this on my Bard, but I wouldn't mind being able to use those locked pieces on other classes.

The problem with the dyable versions of that chest piece is they color the white parts as well, and then it doesn't quite match up with the boots as nicely.

We really could use multiple dye channels...
    What are those boots? o.o

I'm against this idea as originally proposed. Healers shouldn't be able to glamour tank gear. Bards shouldn't be able to glamour BLM gear. Etc. The current restriction that requires a job be able to equip a piece in order to display it as glamour is a sensible thing.

Where the issue comes is with Job Specific Gear and Shared Role Gear. This really does need fixed. Let's say someone has both BRD and MCH. Both jobs are wearing the exact same gear, but the player wants the BRD to look like a BRD and the MCH to look like a MCH. As things currently stand, the player can accomplish 1 at the expense of 2. This needs to be addressed, and to fix it the entire glamour system needs to be overhauled. I'd say, as opposed to locking the glamours to individual pieces of gear, additional equipment slots need to be introduced specifically for glamour. This is the system some other games use and it works well. That way, your glamour can change as you change between jobs that are equipped with the same gear. It would also mean that your glamour wouldn't change even if you changed the equipment for the same job. Considering that in SB they are working towards increasing our inventory slots, this would be a prime time to make the change to such a system.

Personally think there should stay restrictions of some field, they could move into weight classes, but something. WoW does armor types, them all being painted on sometimes makes it hard to really tell the difference tho lol. Of course, imo, job specific gear currently stays job specific. Things that listed only one job, stay that way regardless of new grouping system.

I liked the aesthetic merit system idea that Duelle threw out last time I saw a thread like this, basically you could unlock some neat combinations outside of your field but the key here is it is sort of SE approved breaking of the system, it's not some willy nilly no holds barred freedom.

I don't really want to see absolute freedom, I enjoy some class distinction, but I do find the argument that at least being able to break the rules a bit more like the FF NPCs do would be nice (which I think an aesthetic merit system could do wonders for). WHM unlocks some holy breastplate or w.e.

Big fan of order, and that I believe SE has a very strong handle on their image in other games and even though this is indeed a multiplayer one I would like them to have high control over it's image too.

Honestly I think the restriction should be done away with outside of artifact gear (minus DoL/DoH). As it stands, unless they are holding a weapon most people you can't even tell the class unless they got a Egi/Fairy or some exact job only thing going off near them. I kinda agree with the idea that if I can equip it on my class, I should be able to glamour it. I can understand if this was suppose to be a big help when it comes to PvP but the fact that all players show as "Dark Knight, Summoner, Bard, etc" instead of their name, it doesn't do much good to limit it.

At this point, I really don't see why. If the original intent was so players wouldn't get confused, then why is there a ton of unrestricted glamor spesific armor already out there that can make tanks look like mages and vice versa?

Honestly. I've always been a fan of Caster and Healer gear but I'm not fond of the classes. I'd love to have role restrictions lifted.

I honestly don't look at peoples gear in dungeon. Especially not to determine their class lol.
There's a little icon next to their name for that. I say glamour however you like.

I think they should open up glamours to be by role rather than job... So DRK/WAR/PLD, WHM/SCH/AST, BRD/MCH and BLM/SMN(/RDM) can all use each others armors for glamouring... Their weapons and class icon would still be a completely obvious identifier of their job.

And I've heard something about MNK and SAM sharing gear as well... So there'd be that too...
