In truth, that 30ms ping from you, an east coast user, ought to be sufficient to get one and all who are whining a bout lengthy pings to stop whining about SE and go talk to their ISP about bad routing. It won't, of course, but it's proof, as if it were needed, that bad routing is the main issue people face.

It's not proof of anything. It's impossible to get 30ms from NYC to Sacramento. NYC to Montreal would be about 30ms. As often as I've seen people here and reddit go run speedtest and claim that's their ping to the servers, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what she did. But if she wants to screenshot a traceroute to prove me wrong, I'll believe it. Go read the big ping thread on reddit - Several NYC people that said anywhere from 85-95. Using a VPN to get a nearly straight route to the servers gives me 86-90, and I'm in Buffalo. I'm getting 130 without it because of aforementioned bad routing.

I went from 170ish to this... I don't know what I can do to improve it. I tried a VPN and it didn't seem to make much difference. I really love the game, but I'm feeling pretty frustrated at the moment. If anyone has a suggestion I'd appreciate it.

XIV's relocation screws everyone in the North US and East Coast.

I'm more North than North US (Live in BC, Canada) and my ping is around 35~ right now, Yeah maybe east coast got the bad end but definitely not North US if I'm getting such low ping.

From Atlanta my ping went from 53 to 80 with 0 packet loss. No biggie.

My latency increased from 180ms to 310ms. While I had no problem playing before, now I'm experiencing some delay that compromises stance dancing as a WHM and often makes using Swiftcast a pain.

I can only hope that this routing issue will sort itself out soon.

People should run tracert command instead of ping and see what kind of route you are doing to reach the destination.
Some people are reporting bizarre pathing like going to Amsterdan before reaching California. And no, the ISP can't fix this, tried to call then about this issue and there is nothing they can do about the connection path in international area.
Maybe if we get the bizarre pattern, they might get a fix on their side, making the game more stable.

My latency after the server opened was at 349 ms, with Mudfish managed to drop to 192 MS.

Since I already preordered Stormblood I won't quit just yet, but I'll probably start looking for a new MMO. The servers should've been in Texas, since that would benefit everyone.

Not sure what my ping is in Colorado but it seems nicer than the old servers. A lot in my FC checked and posted their new numbers. Seems AU, NZ and countries in that area came out about the same(200 to 300). (They get 150 to 250 to JP servers). We have a lot of west coast players and they are thrilled(lot of sub 30ms). Basil FC members seem to have their ping go up a bit(varies widely from 250 to 500). East Coast users seemed to take the biggest hit on ping(200 to 250). Oddly 1 players from Britain saw their ping go down to (100ish). No clue how that worked out.

Hopefully there is something for free going into SB so players can chose which DC to play on.
