    Everyone knows ARC deserved a nerf... but essentially breaking the class and not addressing it really bothers me. Really, not having heard of any group finding a way to make ARC at least viable in this fight AND complaints in all the ARC forums about the excessive nerfs, yet the Dev's stay quiet. I guess they just wanted more ppl to jump off the 'ARC bandwagon' and level other classes for awhile, but as someone else said in the thread earlier, it wasn't our fault ARC was was so op in the past, and some of us have been ARC since day 1..

    My whole charecter was built based on wanting to be an ARC/LNC, from starting city to race i felt worked best for it. Really though ARC needed balancing more then nurfing.
    Our skills weren't really OP, just the ability to combine and over use some was really badly done.

    As for Ifrit, the animation lock is the main fubar for me, to many long animations (which i love to look at but). It's the only reason (other then tank/healer fubar) that he even hits me.
    So much as I hate it i see the issue with taking ARC, so atm I'm content not going till I finish ranking LNC.

    As really we have gone from OP to broken in some respects lol.
    Wonder if any MMO will ever have dev's that don't go crazy with the nurf bat?
    An actually try changing one thing each patch till its F'ing Balanced.......

    And thats the funny thing in any other mmo out there mage classes are generally the top DPSers, SE need to get their priorities in check and start making mage classes matter.
    Mage classes always mattered -- People want FFXIV to be different, yet that would be making it just like any other MMO. The way SE handled mages, even in offline games, were always different than the way western and koreans handled mages in a sense.

    For example the only reason black mages would get "screwed over" is if they bump magic resistance too high.

    yeah im really hoping that the class rebalancing fixes the issue, I mean I'm LNC so I'm loving the attention, but I hate to have to exclude folks on our hardcore Ifrit runs, give all DoW a DSII equivalent and it would fix the issue for the most part.

    ws damage aside, the dagger in the heart for archers in the Ifrit fight is that just about everything they do, including their regular shots, comes with an animation lock, which makes archer far more likely to get nailed by eruption/plume

    True but that really just takes practice, and because they dont have a decent WS for the fight they dont get to practice.

    Yeah, but you can be far enough to never get hit by incinerate or the vulcan burst. My only r50 is Archer and Glad, so I'm using archer for ifrit. It goes really well till about 35% of his HP and then our tank dies and mages. I'm usually the last one standing lol BUT i'm trying to prove that you can finish ifrit with an archer... i just have to wait till all the other ones dont die on me ;P

    I can really only complain about the damage. I dealt:
    12 dmg per shot
    30 crit dmg
    55 with bloodletter
    375 total dot from bloodletter
    268 from foeseeker with 3 arrows

    I put a lot of materia on my gear, basically:
    atk power + 22
    crit atk power + 40 and +35
    str and dex + 7

    and the changes were:
    14 per shot
    34 crit
    64 bloodletter
    still 375 with dot
    288 foeseeker

    so its kinda sad

    @SirEdeonX Try more STR since Ifrit seems to have such high VIT, but I doubt that will do anything comparable to LNC seeing how my buffed doomspikes do 900+ damage average and my unbuffed Chaos Thrusts do 420-480+ damage. Even with an Ifrit's bow tested on drubbers ARC is way too far broken to be worth while for me.
