São Paulo, Brazil. From 165ms to 294ms. This is a bucket of cold water considering how hyped I was with Stormblood.

Why would they ruin the game like that for so many people?

Well, if they legit moved the servers from one coast to the other, it was a dumb decision. Central would have been the smart choice.

It also mostly impacts endgame content because that's where you're trying to optimize. At least, relatively speaking. I disagree with the OP though, 190-200 ping is awful. But it's also not something to quit the game over. Just get WTFast/Battleping.

Hardcore character in Diablo 3 it is pretty essential have a good ping. This game is no where near as punishing as creating a hardcore character though. No arcane sentries in small corridors in FFXIV to kill you .

For those complaining about ping speed and response time, the solution is simple. Request a business connection from your ISP. Business connections have much better routing tables because businesses demand speed and bandwidth. For residential connections the routing tables are more generic and usually take more hops to get to a backbone plus the routing tables aren't optimized for speed. Either that or use WTFast

If they really enjoy the game I don't think they will care in the end. There are always going to be gripes with whatever you are playing.

I used to be on ps3 and changed to ps4, the enjoyment went up a lot higher. The fact before EU had the EU data server, was still playable, but when we actually got ours, it was a lot more smoother. Even just maret board was floating smoother. This for some people makes the game more enjoyable. Some people do raids and such, which lower ping would be better.

PS3 is ancient in terms of technology now. Like I said though, everyone will always have gripes about the game but it doesn't matter if you enjoy it.

Why are so many folks who are chilling out in the 100-199 range freaking out?
I played on an NA server with a ping of around 210-240 for 3 years while I was in Japan. It didn't really affect me except in Titan.
If you are under 100ms like a good majority of the folks I see panicking you're more than fine.

If your ping is over 200, try WTFast or some other VPN software and see if it will route you a different way. I tried this a couple of times in Japan when we had some routing issues and it lowered the ping a lot.

I have been raiding with 250~ ping and had no problems dodging AOEs, even Titan. The only time I get killed by AOEs is when I get really greedy but same thing happens even for people who have perfect ping. I do use Pingzapper (was using WTFast but they stopped accepting my PayPal for some reason) for better routing, though.

Anyway, I'm down to 190~ ping now but I doubt there will be noticeable changes in-game for me.

I hope my ping doesn't go up...if it's that bad, I'll just stick to gathering and crafting, which I really enjoy in this game. Honestly, I could play it just for those things I am discovering. It would suck if lag cause me to stop playing.
