Everyday? No, I didn't go looking for them. That would be stalking and I don't want to go looking for people I don't like anyway. However when I was active I ran into them in towns enough times to make me warrant questions.

This is not how the world operates at all when it comes to accounts. It's good business practice to keep any action against an account private. Just because you have a beef with someone doesn't give you access to his or her account. Do you ask for a rule book and play-by-play for every customer service encounter to ensure they're 'doing their job'? I'm sure you don't. Would you like it if someone had access to actions taken against your account? I'm sure you would not. I assure you: a consumers want for privacy is greater than the want to know if someone else was banned.

My perspective is the salty one here was the topic creator. If you are wanting a FATE but aren't camping it anywhere close enough to actually get to it, that's on you.

And, speaking from the other end of things, when someone "confronts" me about not holding a FATE, hunt mob, etc., it's never in a "nice manner." The fact that you "confronted" them at all is kind of ridiculous. Just take the loss and get it next time.

Coming on the forum and making a topic like this is just a "was I wrong?" and a topic looking for confirmation and reassurance.

For this i have to somewhat dissagree. This is why GM's need to be objective because how i come off is not relevant to the report itself. The FACT is he swore at me and broke the ToS. Its very simple and very clear. Regardless of how the GM's see's my confrontation to the guy that is his personal view and has nothing to do with uplholding rules in the game. Any GM who does something like this is not doing his job professionally.

It's more of a triple edged sword really. To my understanding theirs only a small handful of GM's to which have to answer tickets from EVERTHING. Including non ToS violations. Tickets going from soandso early pulled this hunt to soandso kicked me from this dungeon. That's another topic all together of players swamping GM's with report tickets when nothing really wrong game wise or ToS wise has been done. Though because of it I could see completely why some GM's might get jaded over time and just give a simple "black list the person. NEXT TICKET!!" reply or attitude.

It's a cultural thing, and I know it's a bit weird as described but I personally prefer it. Shout is certainly not banned but it is reserved for specific situations where shouting is in the interest of the wider community - for example, all of these things would be fine as most people in the zone could be reasonably expected to be interested:

    - A hunt mob has been sighted in that zone (PF is also used but it makes sense to shout to nearby people too). Announcing HW B-ranks is also ok as multiple people might be searching elsewhere and it's regarded as helpful.
    - Odin has been sighted somewhere in the Shroud (or any other special FATE people like to rush, same as above).
    - Time-sensitive event information in general (e.g. a new seasonal event comes out and nobody knows where anything pops as everything is new).
    - Not really an issue in FFXIV as nothing is scary, but warnings about things that may involve imminent widespread death (e.g. mob trains in FFXI).
    - Finding other people in Diadem because the Diadem party system is pretty useless for this.

Whereas these things are considered generally inappropriate because they only benefit one person and just spam everyone else within earshot:

    - 'I arrived late for something and want strangers to stop what they're doing and wait for me.' (For hunts, if you're late you send one of the people broadcasting the position a /tell...)
    - FC/LS advertisements (PF is used for these, shouts can rarely be used at appropriate times e.g. hunt LS advertisements during a S-rank hunt, but they will annoy people).
    - FATE party recruitment (again, PF).
    - Asking for NPC locations or gear information (Google, or PF if it's to get a link or something in-game).

You can get away with it now and then but you need to be extremely apologetic and it's considered very rude/disruptive to force everyone around to listen to your personal request. I've played on both styles of server and prefer this type. The coordination still happens, it just only involves those who opt-in.

It wasn't so much about knowing what private matters happen. It's more about needing a way to know the GM actually did his job and uphelt the rules of the game according to how the ToS dictates they should be upheld. Also in a way reporting someone for harassing you pretty much stops it from being their own private matter from that moment, but again this isnt soo much about stalking or knowing someone got what they deserved. It is about knowing the GM did what he was supposed to do and didn't just shrug off someone who is an actual victim of something. If i hit my wife and she called the cops and the cops didn't tell her if they were going to take me to jail or not how is she going to know the cops did their job and i got action taken against me according to the law. Whether its about game accounts or not there's a certain general standard here.

I was going to get annoyed at this post, but then I stopped because I saw your server, and realised why you take issue with the OPs actions. It is fascinating really, I didn't realise the JP community was so different in their approaches.

On the NA/EU servers, shout chat is used often: FC recruitment, hunt marks, open-to-the-community questions, party invitations, and idle chat in Idyllshire and Mor Dhona, it is extremely normal to see and is widely accepted.

Getting jaded over time isnt really an excuse in this case however, because its their JOB to be professional and uphold the ToS. When they stop giving out calculated punishments to accounts based on what the ToS or guidelines dictates should happen then they stopped doing their job. There is no excuse to stop doing your job you get payed to be professional and get done. I mean i'm a truck driver and i don't stop driving my truck to my designated location simply because im tired of dealing with aspects of the job. I get payed to do that job and i have to do it and do it right because that's life and i need to get payed. What you are describing to me just sounds like a slacker. If a GM stops doing his job and doing it right if i were his boss he would probably get fired. People dont get payed to sit around and do things improperly or not at all.

The type of player that responds that way isn't going to change just because a GM slaps them on the wrist.

Some people are rude, it's just the way the world is, and you just have to suck it up and move on. If they had followed you around harassing you, or called you out by name on the forums to attack you that's one thing....but you got a salty remark. Just let it go.

This is sort of the equivalent to telling the teacher that a bully said a bad word to you. It's just not worth the effort or even the time it took to create this thread, in my opinion.
