In my experience if a DPS is complaining about pulls it's because a tank or the healer missjudged and got killed and the DPS are the ones soloing the pack that got pulled.

I've encountered DDs bitching just because of a pull that was a bit clumsy (no deaths, just positioning issues from the start), as well as complaining when they died because of standing in a usual mechanic. They took the free time they had to complain about something that I could've done nothing about. It's just toxic players.

Make sure to let them know you're still learning how to tank. If they gripe at you after that, they're showing themselves to be jerks. If they offer advice, be open to it.

wanna party up with me and my friend? I promise you many smooth and quick runs with a dpsing healer and another nifty SMN.
sometimes we have another friend join us and someone will end up tanking then.

Toxic players should be sued that I can agree with you. I hope I didn't come across as mean or anything. I just wanted to I guess speak up, as it's so easy to blame dps all the time when things go wrong. But I'm only defending the nontoxic players, the toxic ones need to be sued. It'll be awesome when everyone in the party can get along and eat icecream.. but that's a dream that'll never happen D:

I main DD so I know very well what I want to do/achieve as a tank.. But yeah, what can you do.

And yesterday was the strangest Copperbell yet. The infamous 31 Blizzard-THM who was talking, but no Fire. Ever. The tank-happy PUG. The 41 PLD who had never tanked.

I'm surprised the slime boss went as smoothly as it did. And no one died. And the tank thanked me for the tips on tanking in general, as well as for the dungeon in particular.

This was then followed by the most frustrating WP ever, where the only one not tanking anything was the tank. And as I had no back up tank available to join in progress, it was just quicker to suck it up and deal with it. (I gave my comm to the monk who died cause my Esuna was 0.2 seconds too late.)

Since all my years in XIV, that scenario happened at least 3 times as far as I remember. Extremely rare, but you know... people...

Had some of the worst experiences this week, my lord.

First I went into Dun Scaith on Saturday night (my mistake; next time I will do it on Tuesday...), and the DPS was just incredibly slow. So slow, I honestly wondered how we were making it past anything. When the main tank died, I GOT AGGRO as a BRD even though I was using Quelling Strikes consistently, which should tell you a lot about how the entire rest of the raid was doing, damage-wise... Somehow we made it through Proto-Ultima (with one second to spare), and then we get to Scathach.

Four wipes, my friends. FOUR WIPES. And each wipe was when the boss was less than 15% health, with our slow DPS... Basically, we spent 40 minutes just trying to clear this fight. Half the meteor circles went ignored, adds took so long that Scathach's ultimate was practically a raid wipe every time. Adds running wild, people standing in every AOE they could find... It was honestly horrifying. We vote abandoned after the fourth wipe, so I spent over and hour in Dun Scaith with nothing to show for it. RIPPPPP me.

Then, after getting out of that shit show, I decided to do my level 50 dungeons roulette as heals for lore tomes to buy umbrite. Got Sunken Temple of Qarn HM. Not fun, but I'll live I guess. Someone is new, okay, bonus tomes is nice. PLD starts... tiny pulls. I mean like in any place it was possible to pull just one monster, he pulled JUST ONE monster. I was dying a bit inside, but I can accept when other people want to go slow, even though we had two Black Mages for DPS... We make it to the second boss. I tell everyone in the party that I will kite all of the adds except for the Sabotender Guardia ("You must kill the tethered add please") and they can ignore 99% of the adds and just focus on the Guardia and the boss.

One Black Mage decides he is going to AOE all of the adds the moment they pop. They aggro on him and interrupt every one of his casts. He can't cast, he can't contribute enough to the DPS to stop the boss's big needle attack. We wipe. I remind everyone to ignore everything BUT the tethered add and just focus the boss. We start again. The one Black Mage ignores all the adds this time--including the Guardia. It doesn't get DPSed down in time; we wipe again. Next try, instead of attacking the tethered add, the one Black Mage attacks the big Sabotender with the club that zeroes in on the healer. That dies, the Guardia is ignored, we wipe AGAIN. After we port back to the start, the one Black Mage declares that the other Black Mage is deliberately ignoring the Guardia. I point out that the only one that wasn't being attacked at all was the tethered add which means they were both ignoring it. I asked the tank to take the Guardia away from me and my ever-growing pack of adds to make it even more obvious, and what happens? They attack the Guardia but then for some reason don't switch back to the queen after the Guardia dies? You guessed it: we wiped AGAIN. I hate bailing on parties but I finally had to tell them that if we didn't clear it next time around, I was out. ...Sure enough, that seemed to do the trick, and we suddenly cleared? Guess they just needed the threat of losing their healer and not being able to finish the dungeon to get their act together. :T

I had a dps in Temple of Qarn normal yesterday with such a weird rotation. I really wanted to say something but he was clearly so new to the game...I explained boss mechanics and he still died to Doom. Twice.

He was BLM and he'd cast Fire III over and over again, then Blizzard until his bar was full, repeat until I cry. He'd only ever use Fire II if there were four enemies. Which, in Qarn, is like two places.

The DRG never once used Phlebotomize. My dots were the only lonely dots except for the occasional Combust from the AST. Dps was so low that I got a Final Sting.

Really wanted to offer tips to the BLM but tips are so rarely well received or worse, just met with blank silence. No matter how many smiley faces you add.

Also, no LB was done that day.
