Like this post if you feel Jobs SHOULD NOT have thier own EXP separate from classes The way it is currently being planned. Job level will automatically become whatever the respective class level is.

"Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere."
SE wants Jobs to be a specialization of a class. Not a class of thier own. It just adds a specialty to you exisiting class, just like talents in WOW add a specialization to your class. They HAVE to level together. I think people get it confused because they think of it too much as it was in FFXI. It's not the same things guys, jobs in XIV does not = jobs in XI. Totally different concept.
Actually this is the exact opposit of what SE wants...Not sure where you get your information from.....but the devs said this specifically : ( Here is the link to the cpy/pasted info below)http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...form-BlueprintSE wants Jobs to be a specialization of a class. Jobs
The job system - that series-defining trademark - will be implemented in FINAL FANTASY XIV (details such as specific jobs TBA). Quests to unlock each job will become available once you have reached a certain rank in the corresponding class.
Rather than being advanced versions of classes, we would like players to think of jobs as specialized playing styles optimized for partying. While playing as a particular job will render you unable to equip certain actions of other classes, you will be compensated with access to exclusive actions, which can be acquired through quests.
In practice, players will find the existing classes effective when playing solo or in certain party setups. Jobs, however, will shine in party situations where specific skill sets are demanded. Now, you didn’t hear this from me, but there are also rumors circulating that quests for obtaining job-exclusive equipment are also in the pipes.
We at the development team are currently hard at work on the job system, and expect to have details to share with you soon.
And that's the thing I like, I don't want separate levels. Not that if I remember correctly they want to add some unlock-able quests to the jobs to advance them or something like that, so separate Exp and level would be big bullshit.
I am actually surprised people don't want jobs to have EXP to level up, that was one of the biggest upsets for me. I guess people want SE to hold their hands for them. Only way for them to offset this is if they make the quests to obtain abilities really hard and require like 3 people (6 is too many especially after job hype dies out). Also make you have to do like 30 quests not like 5.
Or they could just add long fun and challenging quest lines (where mobs adapt to number of people or you do them with a npc group or your path companion or well lots of things).I am actually surprised people don't want jobs to have EXP to level up, that was one of the biggest upsets for me. Make the quest interesting and take you to cool places and nice CS each time too.
Rather then just go face-roll your keyboard for hours killing FOTM EXP mobs.. Cos thats so much fun lol.
Yeah, I do think its fun - though not in the candy-ass mode environment of leveling today. Coupled with the fact I like to learn my job through the progression of leveling and learning its in and outs along the way.
Fair enough if you enjoy Griding, Id just prefer the content to be a challenge not just more of the same we do to level classes really, as well yeah we already do that..
I've never really got it myself, but then I guess a lot of people don't get why I enjoy the fact I could lose a lot of time/isk PvP'ing in EvE, and why its better then just hitting a res button..
As for the learning your class, you can do that in party's when your at cap better imo, but I wont take away from you that its how you prefer to learn, just doing so puts you above a lot.
You could easily have it so mob levels are -/+ the level of the players Class, and the level actually just unlocks the quest for that skill..I know. I read that too, although I didn't cite that example because I thought that it was just an 'example' that Yoshi used. If you read my post, I was responding to the person who wanted 30 quests.
My post was just to show that the most they would do is 10 quests, based on the "skill every other level" trend they use. But also how this seems like it would be way too many.
Yep, thanks n' stuff..
So a 50 will take on Lv48-52 mobs and a 30 Lv 28-32.
