^ Agreeing, as a monk main, our AOE is perfectly fine except for the massive TP drain, and if you've cross classed invigorate like you should then most things will be dead before you bottom out

I just queued up and got Baelsar's Wall. We get a WAR... even in defiance he only had 35k health and proceeded to pull two groups all together. I try to heal him (aspected helios + aspected benefic + synergy + ED + trying to cast benefic II). We wipe (duh). No Holmgang, didn't take aggro off me. I mean I get it if you wanna go fast but cast times are a thing even with lightspeed... By far the rudest tank I've ever encountered.

Edit: Queued again and got a cute little lala paladin and a BRD + BLM. PLD popped her CDs, BLM did her thing, BRD sang for us like crazy and I wish I could've gave her more commends Fiora Sato if you ever read this you're one of a kind <3

That sounds suspiciously like a run I had, I wonder if we ran into the same guy? Like, my dude, I have 9 lustrates maximum, if I eat the fairy, and he died before he even finished positioning the mobs. I'm not sure it was even mathematically possible for me to keep this guy alive long enough to kill anything. He got salty in /p, and I'm not a confident healer at the best of times so I'm not gonna argue, just ate the penalty and went to bed :/ Haven't healed EX since

Thanks to the DPS in that run for sticking up for me in chat, sorry I left you with him but the healer queue that night was like 20 minutes so you probably replaced me with someone better right away

This is why I main DPS, it's a lot easier to refine your gameplay when you're not getting yelled at for not pulling miracles out of your ass lol

This is the exact reason why I've had max level tanks that I didn't play. Leveled for achievements and to do lowbie dungeons to help friends level, but that was about it.

Last I checked, MNK still has Rockbreaker at that level. If they couldn't outdamage the healer they just suck.

Indeed. While sure, we don't have Elixir Field yet at that point, Rockbreaker and Howling Fists take us far on their own. Sounds like a case of incompetent monks who don't use their AoE, rather than bad pull sizes.
Now, of course, if the tank noticed that the monks weren't doing proper AoE, then it would be smarter to do smaller pulls. Not because the classes don't have AoE, but because the players "don't have" AoE. :/

Oddly high numbers of bards not singing Foe for scholars in EX lately (gathering light for my scholar relic, from before I swapped mains to monk). Some just refuse to sing it, and ignore chat. Some say "oh, sorry, I usually don't have healers DPS", and then sing happily once they know I'll be throwing on DoTs and Broils.
Is it really that rare for healers to DPS? I am actually quite surprised by this. I've heard this from at least 3 bards in a row (chain broken today by one of those who refuse to sing).

From my experience, about 40% of pug healers are in the 0% to 3% total dps range, meaning they either do nothing and stand idle while waiting for something to heal, or toss a few out of stance dots and maybe some dps spells. It really stresses the rest to pick up the slack, especially on big trash pulls. Those DF runs usually take 20-25 minutes, rather than the usual 15 or so.

Interesting to know. I personally just get bored if I don't try to DPS as much as possible. Haven't really run into any no-DPS healers myself, due to healing a lot or running with FC mates.

MFW a mentor doesn't realise healer DOT is an insta cast ability so looking at cast bars is useless. You're here to teach? Start by teaching yourself some manners.

That's why the ingame mentoring system doesn't work. I'd rather they extricate the reward from the mentorship, let anyone who completed the requirements to be one stay but not slap the icon just because they did.


If SE's real serious about a mentor program, they should have one or two people from their staff be directly involved in the matter of who's getting it. Not everyone's gunning for mentor cuz they actually want to be.

There are some healers that don't DPS, and I see them frequently in my roulettes. If I notice a healer is, at any time, actively DPSing, I start singing Foe's. But if I notice that they are just standing there, or jumping around, I stop. Not going to waste my Foe's on a healer that won't take advantage of it. :/

As a healer, I always DPS. I dislike runs where I don't get to DPS because either the tank is squishy/not managing their cooldowns, biting off more than they can chew, or the DPS love to stand in things. I hate just having to stand there and babysit a party. :/
