POTD takes less than 10-15min a run with 4 dps on floor 50-60, and goes up from there. But xp grinding is absolutely non existent. Why would anyone do normal dungeons when POTD saves gil (and time), makes gil and gives you just as much XP as a dungeon in waiting 30min+ for DPS ques?I welcome the xp potion. The way dps classes struggle right now to get into a dungeon, my MCH, PGL, and BLM will never reach Lv50 by the time Stormblood release, because I'm still occupied with getting my PLD relic as well as getting my AST and SCH leveled up by normal conditions.
We see a lot of Aether data center ques for Party finder in XP runs. From 1-50, if you POTD grind a lot, you can get 50 in less than a few days. For 50-60, I still POTD as the gil made is just as good as the gil unlocked. Buy the gear for 30 to get up to the class unlock, and then finish the content at 60 from POTD. Skip the quests until then. Saves you gil and saves you time from having to worry about gil spending til you reach the end. It's a good way to help you keep your existing funds and continue to make more.

I assume you're including 2.1 and 2.4 in that query?
Moogle primal begins to change what we know about how primals are created/their origin, Leviathan adds in information about the Echo, Ramuh shows us how a primal can be reasoned with in the right circumstances and aren't necessarily out for blood...and then of course the big one with Shiva being a mortal with the Echo becoming a primal. The Ul'dah political arc begins in earnest, which is what we get caught up in that lands us in Ishgard for a time. The Garlean spy arc starts, which may yet bear fruit as a story element since we're going up against Garlemald elements in 4.0. The Doman refugee arc happens, which sets the foundation for us eventually heading to Doma, as well as juxtaposing them against the Ala Mhigan refugees and their plight.
So the answer is quite a bit happens.
None of this is actual meaty plot though, rather setup for later plot events (a lot of which are just excuses for Ishgard to happen), we get a bit of background on what a primal is, and we get a bit of Doman refuge subplot (which didn't actually affect anything other than introducing the Domans to us as characters). These threads can be explored more in Stormblood, but the actual explanation as to what happened in these 50 or so quests can be summed up in about 1 or 2 minutes. I'd actually be tempted to exclude 2.4-2.55 from this as it is the lead up to Heavensward and contains a bit more plot than the other patches, but considering how old the content is, it should also be made into a summary.
Honestly, this is a big part of the "the story feels boring and pointless in ARR" problem. So many tiny threads that don't get any real development and feel completely disjointed from each other. It's not very good storytelling. You pick up one thing only to drop it a moment later for the next key interest only to drop THAT a few moments later for something else...
And for a majority of us this game is a Final Fantasy title and the majority of the people playing this game are Final Fantasy fans who know what they're getting into. Sorry, you're the minority, always will be. WoWfugees were a mistake. Infact I hate early XIV MSQ just because of how much it reminds me of typical WoWtier boar butt quests.Tons of us play FFXIV because we like MMOs and have pretty much no connection to other FF titles. Like it or not, this IS an MMO, and as such it brings some different requirements for gameplay than a single player RPG. No other MMO I've played has required so much monotonous quest completion to unlock basic game features, and it really does nothing but hurt the game.

Not a "WoWfugee". But again: monotonous quests to unlock basic game features are not a good selling point for this game.
You have 2000 plus posts if you spent more time playing the game and getting a character to 60 then maybe it wouldn't feel like a chore because you're dragging it out for yourself. Takes like 5 minutes to unlock how to ride a Chocobo, FC stuff, etc.
I do have a character to 60.Multiple jobs, actually. Neither that nor my post count should matter much to you, but way to go trying to make assumptions in an attempt to belittle me!
Yes, the same way you're belittling people for expecting a Final Fantasy game and got exactly that, people who don't mind that the story progresses so you can unlock stuff, like in a Final Fantasy game, MMO or not. If you had even a little bit of knowledge on the series before deciding to pick up the XIVth title in the series you'd understand how things work. There's plenty of other MMO's out there for you, maybe try them?
