The gear issue might be solved going forward. They already have a generic gear system in place. PoTD everyone at the same gear level has the same stats. Would make balancing classes easier by just making small nerfs/buffs to the gear stats. I know that would infringe upon some players play style. But it also means every healer would have X amount of hp. No one could complain about some random drg wearing i150 healer gear just to get into a match.

The other issues are probably more work then they plan to commit. Class adjustments need to happen more often though. Pre season needs to be longer and seasons shorter if they plan to only adjust once every other season.

I don't think so. He talked about how they were looking for sponsors for it and wanting a World Championship, where they first have Country Championships for each country.

It's hard to say, really. Yoshi first started teasing an esport vibe when they came up with the concept for feast, but they didn't really go anywhere with it. The original plan involved implementing spectator mode for active matches before moving on to tournaments. It took almost a full year for them to even mention spectator mode again, and there still hasn't been any tournaments. Now he's jumping ahead to a World Championship? No. That's either a publicity stunt, or the man is completely deluded with what they can achieve. You cannot have a world championship unless you first generate a following for the game, and you can't get a solid following for the game unless you first fix its cornucopia of problems. He's getting way too ahead of himself here.

But yes the pvp here is no esports material especially not if the publisher just deactivates the chat because he doesn't want to take care of the flaming people and punish them properly.

Using scripts IS hacking, you are adding or altering code in the game.
Things like Speed hack to increase movement and action/casting speed, phasing through objects, showing enemy locations, allowing certain items in areas of the game they aren't suppose to be in (PotD pomanders, for example), etc. These are all things players can do by using programs to alter scripts, player-side.

If they want PvP to be a proper Esport thing they need to blow a lot of their budget on PVP and sort it out completely. And i don't mean a few tweaks i mean a total revamp.

That is hard to do.. even harder as a SCH because lag prevents our pushback from hitting anyone as long as they are moving. As whm though again because of lag I seen people go in all crazy unintended directions, and i do not think AST even has a pushback effect.

so it is pretty much a whm only thing, unless you come across a derp team that just stands there letting a SCH push 8 of them off at once.

FFXIV just doesn't have enough staff of *any* kind to deal with the current game, let alone should it join the world of esports (spit). I am beginning to wonder if Yoshi is like one of those old men that wear teenage fashion & use buzzwords but actually don't know what they really mean. He hears "esports is popular with the kids" & immediately says he wants to be a part of it without any idea of what it entails.

I think Yoshi has done great work but needs to give away the (dictatorial) leadership role & instigate a democratic approach where there's an entire group of people who look at the viability of things like esports before making any decisions or talking to the press. It seems, right now, that Yoshi comes up with an idea & his team have to shoehorn it in whether it's a good idea or not. Lords of Verminion anyone?

Truth be told, the more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to believe the theory of a friend:
This is simply a stunt to gain sponsorship money.

At least if you view it that way, it makes sense - To sell the game as advertisement space via so called "E-Sports".

You just use ready programms for that. That is not hacking at all, maybe you should google the differences.
