Maybe 4.0 will bring something unique for pvp in this game. We just have to see.

The problem isn't uniqueness though, the problem lies with the PvP's core-design-and-gameplay, which I don't think they can do so easily over night and that IF SE and the Dev team are willing to take the necessary steps...

It's nice that PvP is gradually getting more attention from the dev team, though. And I think thats what hes trying to convey, maybe? E-sport is kind of a buzzword.

It's hard to say, really. Yoshi first started teasing an esport vibe when they came up with the concept for feast, but they didn't really go anywhere with it. The original plan involved implementing spectator mode for active matches before moving on to tournaments. It took almost a full year for them to even mention spectator mode again, and there still hasn't been any tournaments. Now he's jumping ahead to a World Championship? No. That's either a publicity stunt, or the man is completely deluded with what they can achieve. You cannot have a world championship unless you first generate a following for the game, and you can't get a solid following for the game unless you first fix its cornucopia of problems. He's getting way too ahead of himself here.
