Whereas if they insist people have to complete two expansions worth of content, plenty of new players won't try the game at all. Arguably the biggest complaint amongst people who either lost interest or are turned off from trying to begin with is the gated story requirements. Even in the Novice Network, I see people lamenting they still have to go through 2.1-2.55 to finally unlock Heavenward. And they actually like the story, they're simply worn out. On the MMORPG sub reddit, that is the main complaint. You need convinced people only play XIV for story when that simply isn't the case. Some only care about raids or to play with friends and will unsub once they've exhausted all the content which applies to them. People who ultimately quit because the game is "boring" will have quit long before even reaching Stormblood.
