Texa's cute little lalafell face next to the post somehow makes it extra heartbreaking.
In any case, I propose a change of topic!
Whether we've already moved on to PS4/PC or clung on until the bitter end, I assume a lot of people here started out on PS3 (if not, you clicked a weird thread).
So what kind of happy memories do people have of the platform?
I originally bought my PS3 because of FF. I'd played FFXI on PS2 for ages and didn't want a PC, but I knew my system was getting creaky and support was getting worse (some patches were so poorly tested on PS2 I'd be unable to play until emergency updates took place long after my friends had regained access). I eagerly awaited the promised 1.0 beta (*ironic laughter*) and bought the JP version of FFXIII to get the mysterious FFXIV code in case it would help me gain access to that beta (*more ironic laughter*).
But we all know what happened there, and it was many years before I was actually able to step into Eorzea properly on my PlayStation. I started out on Masamune server all alone and had so much fun I convinced my FFXI linkshell to disband and join me. When the PS4 version launched and they offered a free upgrade, I jumped at the chance to take my FFXIV experience further and eventually bought a PS4 specifically to play the game. For me, the Share features are one of the biggest advantages, next to the higher resolution (more space for the interface!) and better handling of 72-man content. The drawbacks are that it's painfully obvious some things aren't tested to work so well with pads, and while I use a keyboard I dislike using a mouse. LoV is challenging.
If it hadn't been for the PS3 version, I doubt I would have given the game a second chance after the snub to console gamers over 1.0. I also wouldn't have appreciated the upgrade nearly as much, and wouldn't have met some wonderful people. RIP PS3.
Come to think of it, I wasn't even able to use the FFXIII code in the end due to a region locking issue. Ha.
