Healers that don't want to DPS are like DPSes who refuse to move out of AoEs.

If we were talking about Savage or Ex i would shut my mouth because i cant do it due circumstances and i dont know how it works in there, but here is what i believe in DF or any Raid that it's normal mode about healer or tanks: If they are both doing their job, i dont care if we get the job done about the dps they are making. If one healer is enough should the other one dps? Sure, i am not saying he should stay still watching the fight, same for the offtank if there are 2 of them. But in duty finder, roulette? No. Unless i go with friends, like someone said, i will act as the group needs and i expect the rest to do the same for the sake of the team. I rather see a duty completed than a group disbanded because someone wanted to rush things like he is entitled to everything because of his Ilevel gear.

Why should people be okay with mediocrity though its not just healers, DPS and Tanks are just as bad its just a terrible mentality to have to say we completed it so who cares if we spent an extra 10-15 minutes because half the party doesn't care enough to play properly.

For the same reason i could ask why should i play a normal dungeon like it was a raid or a Ex-Trial of some sort. Myself, as a healer, i will keep the team healed and dps when the opportunity arises. If someone else is healing i will want them to keep me healed, then proceed to dps if they are confident enough. If i play with random players i will try to keep with the team, i expect them to do the same for me and not someone blaming everyone but him/herself because of his/her impatience.

Why is not needing to DPS even an argument? You don't NEED to have 100% uptime heals, yet here we are

Not everyone plays the same way and even when they try harder the most mistakes they make. You can expect every healer to suit every need like they were clones.

Having minimal expectations out of a community (This is a community btw, it's an MMORPG- It's okay to have expectations out of those you interact with) is not being a clone. Not DPSing isn't like dying your hair pink and going against the grain to be edgy and different. So if the best you have is "I PLAY HOW I WANT! I AM MY OWN PERSON" then please, Sweetie- realize that casting a couple DPS spells isn't the same as being 100% efficient with every cast all the time and it certainly doesn't pull away from your individuality.

I did not mean to give that impression actually. Dont missunderstand, i will give my 100% and i expect to everyone to do the same, dammit. But i dont know "you", i dont know every player out there and my playstyle demands to be player friendly, not to impart my way to play into others-NOT the "I DO WHAT I WANT", but the "I dont care if you dps fulltime or not if you keep the party healed and THEN do dps if you are confident enough."

This is where my problem lies though. Many people in these Healer-DPS threads scattered across the Healer and General Discussion boards have straight up said they do it because they feel like relaxing- so they play a healer and don't DPS at all.

Playing at 80% for everyday stuff is no big deal to me, playing at 20% like so many openly admit to doing to be is terrible.

If i see a healer standing still while i do all the healing in some raids with the occasional "heal", yes, you are right in your words and i dont mean otherwise. Let me give you a quick example: I have a friend who played FFXIV and picked up BLM, my gf teached her the mechanics and was learning fast. It happened in a duty roulette where another player bashed her because of her skills and rotation (i dont know the details but as i said, she was learning) and at that point forward she stopped going with randoms out of fear.

At this day she doesnt play the game.

That's what i mean, if a healer is doing 20% or les then yes, he deserves to be kicked out. But if another healer is striving and yet gets bashed because he/she is not 'fulltime' due to lack of confidence or other things we are not aware about... That's what i meant. IF the healer keeps the party healed and it's not standing still 80% of the time yeah, i will get anoyed. Otherwise i will be patient and give a tip or two if i can.

But that is just me.
